Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Gerald Lowe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Lighting (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). George Lighting has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gerald Lowe! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, George Lighting! The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lighting tries to clinch but Lowe moves out of range. Lowe throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Lighting was covering up waiting for the punch and Lowe finishes the takedown easily into guard. Lowe missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Lighting avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lowe throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Lighting trying to control the position.
Lowe throws a strike but Lighting rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Lighting stops Lowe from standing up. Lowe is controlling Lighting's posture.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lowe wants to get back to his feet but Lighting is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Lowe looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lighting is one step ahead there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lighting stands and steps away. Lowe gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Lowe swats away the attempt to clinch by Lighting. Lowe feints and as Lighting raises his hands in defense, Lowe changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lowe stops Lighting from standing up. Lowe in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Lowe throwing strikes but missing. Lowe is looking to work some ground and pound but Lighting has wrist control. Lighting preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Lighting working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Lowe. Lowe postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Lowe is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Lighting controls Lowe momentarily but Lowe frees himself.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Lowe changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Lighting looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Lowe misses with the ground and pound. Check out the look on Lowe's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Lowe is breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lighting is looking to reverse the position. Lighting takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Lighting is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Lowe scoring with punches and elbows. Lighting tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Lowe wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Lighting is trying to control Lowe's posture but Lowe avoids it. Lowe in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Lowe throwing shots but missing, from side control. Lowe works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Lowe working the head with strikes. Lighting is trying to improve his position. Lowe scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Lighting to see if he's OK.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lighting is working to avoid the ground and pound but Lowe connects with a decent elbow. Lighting defending against the ground and pound. Lighting on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Lighting tries to escape but Lowe is in control. Lowe is putting a hurting on Lighting here, landing some big shots from side control. Lowe lands an elbow. Lowe throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Lighting parries the strikes from Lowe easily there. Lowe is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Lighting to escape.
Lighting is looking for a sweep. Lighting gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Lighting on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gerald Lowe dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Lowe feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Lowe makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Lighting looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Lowe stands up over Lighting, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Lighting preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Lowe working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Lowe in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Lowe connects with a couple of short punches. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Lowe missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Lowe working some strikes from top position. Lowe throwing strikes but missing. Lowe throws a big right hand that misses.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Lighting with a poor takedown and Lowe counters with a shoot takedown. Lighting fights it but they end up in guard. Lowe throws a big right hand that misses. Lighting is trying to control the position but Lowe postures up. Lowe scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Lowe has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Lowe postures up in Lighting's guard and throws a big left but Lighting blocks it. Lowe is looking to work some ground and pound but Lighting has wrist control. Lighting not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Gerald Lowe overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Lowe lands a couple of elbows.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Lighting has his takedown stuffed and Lowe counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Lighting!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lowe looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Lighting tries to lock up and control but Lowe gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Lighting is desperately trying to improve his position but Lowe has a good base and remains in mount. Lowe lands a big elbow. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Lowe cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Lighting tries to reverse the position but Lowe maintains control. The referee warns Lighting that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Lowe fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Lighting regains half guard. Lowe throws a strike but Lighting avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Lowe with a nice head shot there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lowe throws a strike but Lighting rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Lowe bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lighting's guard. Lowe throws a big right hand that misses. Lowe is looking to work some ground and pound but Lighting has wrist control. Lowe trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Lighting has his foot on Lowe's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lowe works his way back into a safe position though. Lowe sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Lighting's guard. Lighting keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Lowe sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Lighting defending well though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lighting is trying to maintain the position but Lowe is very close to passing his half guard. Lowe working the head and body with strikes. Lowe lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Lighting avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Lowe. Lowe missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Lighting blocking the ground and pound attempt from Lowe. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Lowe misses with a takedown attempt - Lighting sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Lighting dips to his left and cracks Lowe with an uppercut! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gerald Lowe dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Lowe works over Lighting with some ground and pound from guard. Lighting working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lowe doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lowe manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Lowe throwing strikes from guard but Lighting blocks nicely. Lowe is in close to Lighting's body, working some short punches and elbows. Lowe scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Lowe makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Lowe stands up over Lighting, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lowe accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lighting had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Lowe defends it easily. Lowe looking to pass the guard. Lowe is looking to work some ground and pound but Lighting has wrist control. Lighting utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Lowe working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Lighting managing to control the position. Lighting looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lowe is one step ahead there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Lowe might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Lowe in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Lowe with a flurry of punches that miss. Lighting is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Lowe throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Lowe keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Lighting's head. Lowe stands up over Lighting, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Lowe postures up in Lighting's guard and throws a big left but Lighting blocks it. Lowe throws and elbow that misses. Lighting uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Lowe's guard. Nice move by Lighting! Lowe working a defensive guard here.
Lowe is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Lighting is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Lighting wants to control from the top but Lowe keeps moving.
And that's the end of the fight! Gerald Lowe showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Lowe, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
