Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shooter McGavin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Georgie Pierson! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pierson tries for a takedown but McGavin sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. McGavin fails with the takedown and Pierson holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. McGavin holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Pierson wants a takedown.
McGavin gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Pierson.
Shooter McGavin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Georgie Pierson. McGavin lands a nice knee to the body. McGavin landing some nice looking knees to the body.

McGavin unloads a knee to the mid-section. Pierson lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Pierson swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Pierson lands on the inside with an uppercut. Pierson tries to pull guard but McGavin holds him up against the cage and eventually Pierson drops back down to his feet.
Pierson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. McGavin is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Pierson pulls guard. Pierson keeping full guard, as McGavin tries to pass. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pierson can do anything to dispel that myth. Pierson tries to strike from the bottom.
McGavin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. McGavin wants to pass the guard but Pierson is keeping the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. McGavin throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Pierson works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Pierson trying to keep a closed guard but McGavin is proving a slippery customer.
McGavin slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pierson tries to bench press McGavin off him but McGavin keeps the position.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Pierson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. McGavin tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Pierson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in McGavin's guard. Pierson looks gassed! Pierson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Pierson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pierson postures up.
Pierson wants to control from the top but McGavin keeps moving. McGavin is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Pierson has his hands clasped together but McGavin extends an breaks Pierson's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by McGavin.
