2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, JC Coat! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Bruno Hogan and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Coat missing with a left hand there. Shurygalo was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. No luck for Coat with that takedown attempt. Shurygalo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Coat swats him away and circles back towards the center. Shurygalo keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Shurygalo lands with a nice combination. Coat backs away looking to recover.
It looks like JC Coat has been cut. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Shurygalo gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Coat wants to control from the top but Shurygalo keeps moving. Coat is looking to advance position but Shurygalo has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shurygalo takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Shurygalo looking to control but Coat is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Coat can do anything to dispel that myth. Shurygalo controlling the pace for now. Coat is looking to improve his position but Shurygalo isn't that keen on the idea.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shurygalo tries to control but Coat wriggling away. Shurygalo avoids the attempt from Coat to control. Coat reaches up and holds on to Shurygalo to control the position. Coat tries to hold on but Shurygalo postures up. Coat avoids a series of strikes thrown by Shurygalo.
Coat is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Shurygalo wants to control the pace but Coat is squirming around nicely. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
The referee stands the fighters back up. Nolan Shurygalo just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Coat dives in and grabs Shurygalo's left leg, looking for a takedown. Shurygalo pushes down on Coat's head and hops out. Nolan Shurygalo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of JC Coat. Shurygalo throws a head kick that half lands.
Shurygalo ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Coat looks gassed! Coat takes a kick to the side of the head. Shurygalo throws a head kick that Coat semi-blocks.

JC Coat seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Coat on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
A nice inside leg kick there by Shurygalo. That's going to slow Coat down. Shurygalo cracks the inside of Coat's front leg. Good leg kick by Shurygalo there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Coat takes a knee right on the jaw!

Shurygalo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Shurygalo rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Coat moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Coat looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Shurygalo is fending him off so far but Coat persists. Nope, Shurygalo circles away and we're back to standing. Shurygalo scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Nolan Shurygalo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Shurygalo takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Shurygalo is looking to clinch. Coat scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Shurygalo looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Coat is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Coat working over Shurygalo with some ground and pound. Shurygalo looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Coat is looking to stall here but Shurygalo recovers full guard. Coat must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Shurygalo looking to sweep here. No luck so far. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nolan Shurygalo dominated that round. The cut man is working on JC Coat's cut. That's time! Shurygalo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Coat fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Shurygalo connects with a good right hand that stumbles Coat. Coat circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Shurygalo looks to land a combination. Coat sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Coat is defended easily by Shurygalo. Shurygalo goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Shurygalo turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Shurygalo doesn't manage to clinch there - Coat circles away.

That has opened up JC Coat's cut even more. Shurygalo lands a nice leg kick that just misses Coat's sensitive parts. Shurygalo throws a nice inside leg kick. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. The fight moves into the clinch position. Coat gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Shurygalo.
Coat wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shurygalo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Shurygalo is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Coat can do to turn this around? Shurygalo stuffs the takedown attempt from Coat. Coat gets slowly back to his feet. Nolan Shurygalo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of JC Coat. Shurygalo goes for a high kick. It partially lands. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Coat. Coat takes a kick to the side of the head. Shurygalo stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Shurygalo wants it to stay on the feet. Shurygalo throws a quick inside leg kick. Shurygalo lands a nice leg kick that just misses Coat's sensitive parts. Left hook, right uppercut from Shurygalo. Shurygalo lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. A slapping leg kick lands for Shurygalo.

Nolan Shurygalo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Shurygalo throws a quick inside leg kick. Coat's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. A decent looking cross lands there for Shurygalo. Shurygalo throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Coat's head. Coat takes a kick to the side of the head. Coat shoots for a takedown but Shurygalo saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. The fight stays on the outside here - Shurygalo looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Coat scores with a takedown into Shurygalo's guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Shurygalo working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Coat. Shurygalo controls Coat momentarily but Coat frees himself. Coat postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Coat slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shurygalo utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Shurygalo is trying to control the position but Coat postures up. Shurygalo keeping full guard, as Coat tries to pass.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Coat misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Shurygalo counters with a head kick. Shurygalo keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Coat. Shurygalo wants to clinch. Coat is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Shurygalo. Coat gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Shurygalo counters with an inside leg kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Good exchange - Shurygalo coming out on top. Shurygalo lands a head kick. Coat smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Shurygalo defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Coat. Coat tries to move into range but Shurygalo moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Shurygalo throws a one two combo.
Coat shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Shurygalo pinned against the cage. Shurygalo gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Coat changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Shurygalo looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Coat landing strikes. Shurygalo gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Shurygalo has hold of Coat's hands but Coat slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Coat trying to control the pace. Coat not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shurygalo lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Shurygalo. Coat fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Shurygalo dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Coat. That did some damage! Shurygalo lands with a slapping head kick. Coat fails with the takedown and Shurygalo counters with a left and a right that stings Coat. Coat swats away the attempt to clinch by Shurygalo. Coat shoots and misses and Shurygalo counters with a flying knee. Nice. Nolan Shurygalo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of JC Coat. Shurygalo throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Coat. Nolan Shurygalo is winning the standup battle so far. Shurygalo is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Coat shoots and misses and Shurygalo counters with a one-two to the body. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Shurygalo throws a head kick that misses. Coat tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Shurygalo swivels and escapes. Coat fails with a takedown attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shurygalo fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Coat, pushing him back against the cage. Coat is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Shurygalo pulls him back up using the underhooks. Shurygalo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Shurygalo scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Coat fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Shurygalo lands with a slapping head kick. Shurygalo throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Coat's head. Coat closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Coat lands in his opponent's guard. Coat pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Shurygalo is keeping the position for now. Shurygalo can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Coat controls the pace.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Coat postures up.
Coat stays in close to Shurygalo's body and controls the position. Shurygalo is trying to keep Coat in close.
Coat content to stall in guard here. Coat looking to sit in guard and control but Shurygalo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Shurygalo wants to control from the top but Coat keeps moving. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Coat wants to sweep here but Shurygalo controlling him for the moment. Coat keeping moving, preventing Shurygalo from controlling successfully. Shurygalo pushing down on Coat's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Coat is holding on to half guard well. Coat has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Shurygalo is working away from the top position though. Coat is refusing to be controlled, as Shurygalo sits in half guard. Shurygalo tries to pass to full mount but Coat defends it. Coat is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Shurygalo is looking to advance position but Coat won't allow it. Coat preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Shurygalo tries to pass the half guard into mount. Coat knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Coat keeps control of the position for the meantime. Shurygalo is keen to just control but Coat is a slippery customer. Coat is controlling Shurygalo's position as best he can from this difficult position. Coat wants to control but Shurygalo is keeping busy and won't allow it.
And that's the end of the fight! Nolan Shurygalo showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Shurygalo, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
