Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jouni Puustinen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lawrence Powers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jouni Puustinen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lawrence Powers! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Chris Downing and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Powers tries to score a power double leg takedown but Puustinen sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Powers somewhat. Puustinen shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Powers trying to control from the bottom.
Puustinen stands up from half guard. Powers shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Puustinen counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Powers's guard now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Puustinen's corner is telling him to maintain position. Puustinen decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Powers tries for a takedown but Puustinen circles away easily so Puustinen counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Jouni Puustinen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lawrence Powers. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Puustinen gets to his feet - Powers follows without any prompting.
That's one minute gone in the round. Puustinen circles away from the clinch attempt and Puustinen counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Powers's guard now. Puustinen landing some decent shots from guard. Puustinen lands a couple of digs. Powers preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Puustinen stopping the sweep attempt from Powers. Puustinen slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Puustinen cracks Powers with a big elbow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Puustinen tries to advance to mount but Powers denies him. Powers is working to avoid the ground and pound but Puustinen connects with a decent elbow. Puustinen stands up. Puustinen is breathing heavily. Puustinen looks for a takedown but Powers sprawls well. Powers with a lazy takedown attempt so Puustinen counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Powers is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Puustinen is controlling him. Puustinen loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Puustinen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Powers swivels though and keeps the full guard. Powers is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Powers is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Powers wants to stand up but Puustinen is controlling him. Powers is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Powers really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Puustinen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Puustinen closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Powers to the mat! Powers manages to get full guard. Puustinen lands a couple of decent looking shots. Puustinen avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Puustinen trying to control but Powers is working from the bottom. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Puustinen is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Powers keeping moving, preventing Puustinen from controlling successfully. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jouni Puustinen dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Powers has his takedown stuffed and Puustinen counters with a single leg into guard. Powers didn't expect that. Puustinen trying to control the position from guard on top but Powers is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Puustinen chips away with some ground and pound. Jouni Puustinen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Puustinen preventing the sweep. Puustinen looking to pass the guard. Powers is looking to stand up but Puustinen isn't so interested in that idea. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Puustinen advances position into side control! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Puustinen misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Puustinen throws a strike aimed at the side of Powers's head but Powers avoids it well. Puustinen is working Powers over with some ground and pound from side control. Powers regains half guard, as Puustinen was trying to land strikes. Puustinen tries to pass the half guard into mount. Powers knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Puustinen with the ground and pound but Powers uses the opportunity to regain guard. Powers wants to sweep but no luck.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Powers has a closed guard, preventing Puustinen from standing up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Powers with a poor takedown and Puustinen decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Powers's guard. Powers not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Puustinen prevents Powers from getting back to his feet. Puustinen wants to control from the top but Powers keeps moving. Puustinen wants to pass the guard but Powers is keeping the position. Puustinen postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Puustinen tries to pass to full mount but Powers defends it. Puustinen is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Powers can do to turn this around? Puustinen content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Puustinen not landing any meaningful shots this time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Both fighters circling a little - Powers finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Puustinen moves in looking to clinch but Powers pushes him off. Powers takes a swing at Puustinen's ribcage but misses. Puustinen shoots in for a takedown but Powers shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Puustinen takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Puustinen is looking to clinch. Powers tries for a takedown but Puustinen circles away easily and Puustinen counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Puustinen trying to control but Powers is working from the bottom. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Puustinen stands up over Powers, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Powers is trying to control the position but Puustinen postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Puustinen wants to pass the guard but Powers is keeping the position. Puustinen won't allow Powers to sweep him here. Puustinen wants to get up but he can't break Powers's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Puustinen missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Puustinen tries to free his leg and advance position but Powers is retaining full guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Puustinen sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Powers misses with a few strikes there.
A left and a right from Powers both land. Nice combination. Powers tries for a takedown but Puustinen circles away easily and Puustinen counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Puustinen stops Powers from getting back to his feet.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Puustinen lands a nice short elbow. Puustinen trying to mount his opponent but Powers defends it. Puustinen working over Powers with some ground and pound. Powers looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Puustinen wants to control but Powers is keeping him busy. Puustinen tries to pass to full mount but Powers defends it. Puustinen is looking to pass Powers's guard but actually Powers recovers to full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Powers moves into the clinch. Powers fails to pull guard.
Jouni Puustinen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lawrence Powers. Powers tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Puustinen smiles and moves away.
Puustinen closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Puustinen working the body and head with strikes. Puustinen throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Powers tries to escape but Puustinen is in control. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Powers tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Puustinen easily slips into full mount! Puustinen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Powers wants to hold on but Puustinen pushes him away. Jouni Puustinen is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. The referee warns Powers that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Puustinen won't let Powers get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. Puustinen prevents Powers from getting the reversal. Puustinen is landing with some decent strikes but Powers is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Puustinen raining down shots from the mount!
And that's the end of the fight! Jouni Puustinen showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Puustinen, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
