Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Hammer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nathan Audet! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Audet tries to clinch but Hammer moves out of range. Hammer tries to keep at a distance but Audet has taken the fight into the clinch. Audet lands a knee to the head.
It looks like Jack Hammer has been cut. Audet prevents a takedown attempt there.
Hammer tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Audet tries a knee to the head but Hammer blocks it.
Audet tries to land a knee to the head but Hammer blocks with his arms.
Audet misses with a knee to the head. Audet blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Audet throws a knee to the head but misses.
Hammer wants a takedown.
Audet is pressed up against the cage. Hammer has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Audet down to the mat. Audet avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Hammer. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hammer shoots in and drives through. Audet sprawls well. Audet leaves Hammer with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Hammer slips a jab and a cross from Audet.
Audet pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Audet fails with an attempt to clinch.
Audet moves in looking to clinch but Hammer pushes him off. Audet tries to clinch but Hammer moves out of range. Nathan Audet seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Audet darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Audet thows a huge punch but Hammer dodges it nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Audet not doing much here.
Audet scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Audet is thwarting Hammer's attempts to control the position. Audet is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! A nice elbow there by Audet. Hammer is trying desperately to improve position. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Audet cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hammer holds on for dear life, controlling Audet's posture momentarily. Hammer working to try and regain half guard.
Audet trying to control but Hammer is having none of it. Audet is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Hammer can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Audet with the ground and pound from mount. BOOM! Audet connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Audet with a couple of short strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Audet landing shots from mount. Hammer is wriggling around trying to escape.
Audet postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Hammer looks a forlorn figure.
Audet lands a heavy elbow. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Audet controlling the pace for now. Audet working away from the top, dropping strikes. Hammer is looking to get to half guard. Hammer is squirming around, avoiding Audet's attempts to control the action. Audet punishing his opponent with strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Audet lands a nice shot to the head. Audet jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Hammer is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Hammer and Audet has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Hammer wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Hammer tries to buck Audet off but Audet is having none of it. Audet lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Audet working the body and head with strikes. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Audet grinds an elbow into Hammer's temple. Audet advances to full mount. Hammer squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

Nathan Audet dominated that round. The cut man is working on Jack Hammer's cut. That's time! Hammer's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Audet tries to close the distance and clinch but Hammer swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Audet tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hammer paws at him with a jab and circles away. Audet with a lazy takedown attempt and Hammer decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Audet's guard. Hammer throws a big right hand that misses. Hammer is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Audet is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Audet has escaped and now he's on top! Hammer keeping moving, preventing Audet from controlling successfully. Nathan Audet has got the better of the ground game so far. Audet seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Audet prevents Hammer from getting back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Audet tries to free his leg and advance position but Hammer is retaining full guard. Hammer looking to control.
Audet wants to control from the top but Hammer keeps moving. Audet drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Hammer dives on top into guard. Audet is breathing heavily. Audet working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Hammer. Hammer preventing the sweep. Hammer drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Audet dives on top into guard. Audet wants to control from the top but Hammer keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Audet is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Audet trying to control the position from guard on top but Hammer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Audet must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Hammer had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Audet defends it easily. Audet advances position into side control! Audet in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Audet wants to control but Hammer is keeping him busy. Audet sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Hammer is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Audet wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hammer, who protects the arm well. Hammer wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Audet working away.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Audet closes the distance and clinches. Audet with a knee to the head.

Hammer has Audet pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Audet manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Audet with a knee to the head.

Hammer has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Audet is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Audet prevents a takedown attempt there.

Nathan Audet showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Jack Hammer's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Hammer will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Hammer shoots in for a double leg but Audet sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Audet closes the distance looking to clinch and Hammer counters with a nice double leg into side control. Audet won't be happy with that. Audet is looking to reverse the position. Audet prevents Hammer from improving position. Audet sneaks back into half guard. Hammer seems to be working for a kimura but Audet defends the submission attempt. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hammer seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Audet has recovered full guard. Hammer postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Audet is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Hammer, into his guard. Audet gets to his feet - Hammer follows without any prompting.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Audet tries to clinch but fails miserably and Hammer counters with a nice double leg into side control. Audet won't be happy with that. Hammer landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Audet is trying to improve his position. Audet dodges the ground and pound from Hammer. Hammer swings around for an armbar but Audet sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Hammer's guard. Audet pushes down on Hammer's leg and manages to get into half guard. Audet lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Audet slips a nice elbow through Hammer's hands, connecting with Hammer's forehead. Hammer taking some punishment here, with Audet in his half guard. Hammer wants to get back to his feet. Hammer wants to control but Audet is keeping busy.
Audet trying to control the pace. Hammer is refusing to be controlled, as Audet sits in half guard. Hammer pushes Audet off looking to stand but Audet dives back in and keeps control.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Audet loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Audet working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Audet trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Audet is stalling in the full guard. Hammer is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Audet is controlling him. Audet looking to sit in guard and control but Hammer gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Jack Hammer has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Hammer tries to free his leg and advance position but Audet is retaining full guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Jack Hammer showed his dominance in that final round. Well Audet has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
