Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Evan D (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simon Brinks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Evan D!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Simon Brinks!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, William Peck and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brinks fails to land with a series of punches.
D tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Brinks swivels and escapes.
Brinks tries to bum rush D with a series of wild strikes but D uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Brinks stalks D and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into D's face. D staggers backwards, shaken.
Some wild striking there from Brinks.
D takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Brinks swinging wildly here.
D slips a jab and a cross from Brinks.

Brinks throws a combination but it was largely blocked by D.
No joy there for Brinks, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Brinks throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck D on the side of the head.
Brinks misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

D shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Brinks manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

D stops Brinks from standing up.
D has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Brinks preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Brinks not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Brinks wants to get back to his feet but D passes into half guard.
D is keen to just control but Brinks is a slippery customer.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Brinks moves into full guard.
Brinks is trying to control the position but D postures up.
Brinks manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. D manages to get himself to full guard.

D keeping moving, preventing Brinks from controlling successfully.

Brinks postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! D is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Brinks, into his guard.
D won't allow Brinks to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
D trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Brinks keeping moving, preventing D from controlling successfully.
Brinks wants to sweep but no luck.
D won't allow Brinks to get back to his feet.
D is standing up over Brinks. Brinks looks to escape but D dives into side control.

D is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Brinks has escaped the position, nice work there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


D takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Brinks swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Brinks misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

D shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Brinks manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Brinks is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and D defends well.

D thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
D trying to control but Brinks is working from the bottom.
Brinks wants to sweep here but D controlling him for the moment.
Brinks wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and D is now in half guard.
Brinks is trying to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

D is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Brinks wants to get back to full guard.
Brinks is looking to get back to full guard here but D has managed to pass to side control instead.
D misses with a head shot.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Brinks tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Brinks tries to buck D off but D takes his back!
D controlling well, preventing Brinks from escaping the position.
Brinks is trying to get back to his feet but D has full control of the position and if anything, Brinks has just worked his way into a worse spot.

D has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Brinks has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

D is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Brinks is defending well though. D let's go of the attempt for now.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Brinks tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Brinks is squirming around, avoiding D's attempts to control the action.
D prevents Brinks from getting the reversal.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Evan D dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Brinks lands with a nice combination. D backs away looking to recover.
Brinks misses with a jab, cross combination.

Brinks lands a left and a right that send D crashing to the mat, dazed. Brinks thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


D is rocked!
Brinks looks to land a combination but D avoids it well.
D avoids a punch combination nicely.

D changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Brinks looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Brinks tries to escape but D is in control.
Brinks tries to bench press D off him but D keeps the position.
Brinks avoids any damage from the ground and pound of D.
Brinks regains half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Brinks has his hands clasped together around D's back. He's all about the action.

D is working for a kimura but Brinks is defending it quite comfortably.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Brinks gets back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
D preventing the sweep.
Brinks wants to get back to his feet but D is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
D trying to control but Brinks is working from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
D trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Brinks is looking for a triangle here but D uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Brinks sneaks back into half guard.
D will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

D is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Brinks is controlling D's trapped leg to prevent D from advancing to side control.
Brinks pushes D off looking to stand but D dives back in and keeps control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Simon Brinks comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Brinks has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
