0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, arch enemy! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Edson Gomes and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! enemy lands with a nice combination. Santiago backs away looking to recover. enemy scores with a takedown into Santiago's guard. enemy loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. enemy in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Santiago wants to stand up but enemy is controlling him. enemy missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Santiago keeping full guard, as enemy tries to pass. Santiago lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for enemy! Santiago stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing. Santiago misses with a takedown and enemy counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. enemy misses with a double jab.

Santiago is looking for a sweep. enemy working the body and head with strikes. enemy is working Santiago over with some ground and pound from side control. enemy throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Santiago dodges the ground and pound from enemy. enemy is putting a hurting on Santiago here, landing some big shots from side control. enemy creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Santiago sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. enemy in side control, throwing shots but Santiago defends. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. enemy throws a shot from downtown. Santiago moves away and avoids it. enemy throws a series of strikes that have Santiago backpedaling.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. enemy buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Santiago tries to keep at a distance but enemy has taken the fight into the clinch. enemy pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. enemy rushes Santiago and presses him up against the cage. enemy is pressed up against the cage. Santiago has hold of a leg and is looking to drag enemy down to the mat. enemy avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Estefan Santiago. That's going to take a lot out of him. enemy cracks Santiago with a good jab. enemy throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

enemy clinches up against the cage. Santiago looking for a takedown. Santiago wants to break the clinch but can't.

A looping hook to the body misses from enemy. Santiago does a little dance to reset his feet. Santiago on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
enemy closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Santiago to the mat! Santiago manages to get full guard. enemy must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Santiago preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Hammerfist, elbow! yells enemy's corner. There ya go! There ya go! There's a bit of a scramble here and now Santiago is on top in guard.
Santiago wants to stand but enemy has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Santiago in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. enemy is controlling Santiago's posture. enemy keeping moving, preventing Santiago from controlling successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Santiago trying to move into half guard but instead enemy has managed to sweep! arch enemy has got the better of the ground game so far. Santiago working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. enemy doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. enemy manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. enemy postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. enemy landing with the ground and pound. enemy preventing the sweep. enemy advances position into side control! arch enemy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Estefan Santiago's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Good leg kick by enemy there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Santiago has his takedown stuffed and enemy connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Santiago shoots and misses and enemy counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Santiago! enemy landing shots from mount. enemy postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Santiago looks a forlorn figure.

Santiago tries to lock up and control but enemy gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. enemy landing punches. enemy lands a heavy elbow. enemy scoring with strikes but Santiago is staying in there. enemy prevents Santiago from getting the reversal. Santiago wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by enemy.
Santiago is trying desperately to improve position. enemy with the ground and pound from mount. Santiago working to try and regain half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Santiago sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Santiago wants to improve his position but enemy is controlling well.
enemy decides to stand up. enemy shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Santiago as he jumps to the side. Santiago with a lazy takedown attempt and enemy counters with a nice double leg into guard. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Estefan Santiago. That's going to take a lot out of him. enemy throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Santiago pushes enemy off and gets back to his feet.

Santiago shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. enemy keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Santiago frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

And that's the end of the fight! arch enemy comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well enemy has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
