PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Raw Power (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Radu Mondragon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mondragon is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by "Five To One" by Marilyn Manson. Raw Power has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab lands there for Mondragon.

It looks like Raw Power has been cut.
Mondragon tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Power paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Mondragon leaves Power with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Power.
Mondragon wants to get back to his feet but Power drags him back down.

Power decides to take the fight back to the feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Power misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Mondragon getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
The fighters circling - Mondragon throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Power will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Raw Power. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Power avoids the body shot from Mondragon.
Mondragon scores with a crisp jab that stopped Power in his tracks.

Raw Power's cut is getting worse.

Power is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Power shoots in but no luck this time.
Mondragon thows a left - swing and a miss!
Mondragon misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Power fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Mondragon moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Power is breathing heavily.
Power avoids the body shot from Mondragon.
Mondragon scores with a crisp jab that stopped Power in his tracks.

Raw Power's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mondragon thows a left - swing and a miss!
Mondragon misses with a takedown attempt

and Power counters with a takedown into side control.
Power misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mondragon is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.
Power looking to control but instead Mondragon has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Mondragon is staying active underneath Power, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Power content to control rather than advance.
Power working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Mondragon's thigh. Mondragon counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Power stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mondragon swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Power circles away from the clinch attempt
and Power counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Mondragon misses with a looping right.
Mondragon misses with a takedown

and Power counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Power.

Power decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Power shoots for a takedown but Mondragon saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Nice sprawl there from Mondragon as Power shoots in.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Radu Mondragon dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Raw Power's cut.
That's time! Power's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Power steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Mondragon.
Nice defenses there by Power.

Power throws a left that rocks Mondragon and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Power dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Mondragon regain composure!

Mondragon is rocked!
Power has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Mondragon is still in real trouble! Can Power finish him?
Power postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Mondragon bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Power and the fight is over!
