Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jed Rox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Earnie Champ!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Alyssa Summers and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rox looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Champ tries to get to full guard but Rox has control of the leg.
Rox is pressing down on Champ's thigh, looking to free his foot. Champ is holding on for now.

Rox seems to be looking for submissions.
Rox is thwarting Champ's attempts to control the position.

Rox stands up out of the half guard.
A big left from Rox misses.
The fighters circling - Rox throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Rox clinches up with Champ and pushes him back against the cage.

Rox escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Champ scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Rox is looking to get back to his feet here but Champ is keeping cool and he's managed to take Rox's back.
Rox looking very determined here, making life difficult for Champ.

Champ has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Rox is in bad spot here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Champ's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Champ is trying to stick to Rox's back but Rox is turning into Champ. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Champ's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Rox.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Rox trying to control the position from guard on top but Champ is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Rox throws a shot to the body.
Rox connects with a single shot there.

Rox gets the takedown into side control.
Rox misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Champ tries to improve position but can't.
Rox landing strikes.
Rox wants to lay and pray for a moment but Champ keeps working.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Champ wants to control but Rox postures up.

Rox decides to stand up, so the ref orders Champ to his feet.
Rox lands a nice hook to Champ's body. Champ takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Rox closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Champ to the mat! Champ manages to get full guard.
Rox missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Rox is looking to work some ground and pound but Champ has wrist control.

Rox drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rox jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Rox would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Champ has his foot on Rox's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rox works his way back into a safe position though.
Champ is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Champ is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Rox stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Champ swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Champ has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rox can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Rox has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Champ is proving hard to escape from.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Champ is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Rox is looking to take a break and control but Champ is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Rox thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Rox wants to lay and pray for a moment but Champ keeps working.
Rox is really struggling to control Champ but he's trying to hold on to the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jed Rox dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Rox clinches up with Champ and pushes him back against the cage.
Rox gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Champ.

Rox jumps guard.
Champ is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Rox had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Champ is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Rox Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Champ's back instead.

Rox is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Champ is defending well though. Rox let's go of the attempt for now.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
I really don't envy Champ right now.

Rox is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Champ rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Champ is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Rox thows a huge punch but Champ dodges it nicely.

Rox decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Jed Rox has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Earnie Champ.

Rox stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Champ swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Champ escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rox gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Rox throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Champ won't allow Rox to pass to mount.

Rox is looking for submissions but instead, Champ has regained full guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Champ wants to sweep here but Rox controlling him for the moment.
Earnie Champ has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Rox might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Rox stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Champ swivels though and keeps the full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jed Rox showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Rox has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
