Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Shepard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Paul Garcia!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Skip Squint and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Garcia manages to break the clinch.
Shepard tries to clinch up.
Shepard has managed to clinch.
Garcia tries to break free but Shepard pushes him back against the cage.
Shepard prevents Garcia from breaking the clinch.
Garcia lands a right hand that snaps the head of Shepard backwards.
A frustrated look appears on Garcia's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Shepard wants a takedown.
Shepard is trying to stall.
Garcia escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Garcia with a jab.
Shepard throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Garcia swings for the body but Shepard moves out of range.
Garcia displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Shepard.
Shepard fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Shepard. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Garcia fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Shepard manages to avoid it.
Garcia throws a combination. Shepard tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
It looks like Jack Shepard has been cut.
Garcia throws a left and a right that both miss
and Shepard counters with a stiff right hand.
Shepard swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Garcia counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
A combination from Shepard does no damage.
Shepard is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Shepard tries a head kick but it misses.
Garcia avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Garcia staying out of range there.
Garcia throws a right hand that Shepard ducks under and follows up with a left that Shepard also avoids with ease.
Garcia connects with a nice looking jab.
A combination from Garcia does no damage.
Garcia throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Garcia throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Shepard stumbling backwards into the cage! Shepard bounces back off the cage towards Garcia, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Garcia lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Garcia celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Paul Garcia!
