Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and benji ahr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Frank Mir has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Frank Mir seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Mir! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, benji ahr! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Stewart Dunkirk and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! ahr throws a looping overhand right but Mir ducks down to avoid it. Mir avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Mir swats away the attempt to clinch by ahr. Horrible takedown by Mir or perhaps it was just good defense by ahr which made him look bad. ahr scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Mir doesn't seem bothered though. ahr misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Mir.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. ahr shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mir's guard. Mir really is a fat lump. Mir keeping full guard, as ahr tries to pass. ahr would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. ahr trying to control the position from guard on top but Mir is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Mir might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Mir looking to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. ahr wants to stand but Mir is controlling his posture from full guard. ahr must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. ahr lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. ahr thows a big elbow that misses. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. ahr tries to clinch there but Mir circles away.
ahr with a lazy takedown attempt and Mir counters with a shoot takedown. ahr fights it but they end up in guard. Mir is breathing heavily. Mir won't allow ahr to sweep him here. ahr throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Mir seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. ahr has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Mir has passed into side control.
You can see the frustration on ahr's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Mir goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, ahr has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Mir but great work by ahr. ahr creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Mir sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Mir is being controlled here. ahr trying to control the action but Mir is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Mir is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. ahr is looking for a kimura here.
ahr performing his best blanket impression for a moment. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but benji ahr will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!
ahr moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. ahr shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Mir napping and manages to drive through into side control! ahr controlling the position from side mount. ahr postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
That's one minute gone in the round. ahr has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Mir! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Mir is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
ahr misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
ahr content just to control the position here. Mir is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. ahr trying to control but Mir is having none of it. ahr jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Mir is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Mir and ahr has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Mir stops ahr from passing to mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mir regains half guard. Mir keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. ahr performing his best blanket impression for a moment. ahr is trying to control the action in half guard but Mir is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. ahr missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. ahr trying to control the action but Mir is working from the bottom. ahr is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
benji ahr showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Mir's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
ahr misses with a low kick. Mir misses with a takedown attempt and ahr counters with a head kick. That will keep Mir thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Mir misses with a takedown attempt and ahr counters with a nice body kick. ahr shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Mir counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Both fighters are breathing heavily. ahr is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mir defends well. Mir wants to pass the guard but ahr is keeping the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mir trying to control the position from guard on top but ahr is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. ahr throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. ahr is adopting a defensive guard. ahr working a defensive guard here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Mir trying to control but ahr is working from the bottom.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Mir gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. ahr stays in close to Mir's body and controls the position. ahr trying to control but Mir is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. ahr thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. ahr pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mir is keeping the position for now. ahr wants to control from the top but Mir keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Mir wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Frank Mir has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Mir controls ahr momentarily but ahr frees himself. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to benji ahr. Well ahr has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
