PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gino Napolitano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mors Olle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Olle comes into a darkened arena with his song building. enter sandman kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Mors Olle will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gino Napolitano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mors Olle!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Chris Downing and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Olle shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Napolitano as he jumps to the side.

Napolitano shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Olle napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Napolitano is trying to get an arm triangle but Olle is defending well.
Napolitano could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Olle tries to bench press Napolitano off him but Napolitano keeps the position.
Olle really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Napolitano. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Olle is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Napolitano is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Napolitano takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and Napolitano counters with a single leg into guard. Olle didn't expect that.

Napolitano decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Olle, up you get!

Napolitano has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Napolitano might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

and Napolitano decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Olle's guard.

Gino Napolitano overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Napolitano wants to get up but he can't break Olle's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Olle is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Napolitano is controlling him.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Olle can do anything to dispel that myth.
Napolitano won't allow Olle to sweep him here.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Olle closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Olle looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Napolitano with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

and Napolitano counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Gino Napolitano has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mors Olle.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Napolitano stands and steps away. Olle gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Olle accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Napolitano thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Napolitano is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Olle has Napolitano pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Napolitano manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Napolitano lands a knee to the head.

Olle is trying to trip Napolitano. He has hold of a leg but Napolitano is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Olle persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Olle stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Napolitano has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Olle manages to get his head free but now Napolitano has transitioned to an armbar! Olle grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Napolitano! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:33 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Gino Napolitano!
