Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Antonio Laborina Lim! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Suta Nagasuka! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nagasuka takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Nagasuka bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Nagasuka shoots in and bounces Laborina Lim off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Laborina Lim might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Nagasuka is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Nagasuka stops Laborina Lim from standing up. Nagasuka slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Laborina Lim is looking to sweep but instead, Nagasuka has passed into half guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Laborina Lim wants to improve his position but Nagasuka is controlling well.
Nagasuka not doing much here.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Nagasuka connects with a nice short shot to Laborina Lim's temple.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nagasuka seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Nagasuka landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Nagasuka looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Nagasuka wants to work for an arm triangle but Laborina Lim is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Nagasuka has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Nagasuka looks gassed! Laborina Lim trying to control here.
Laborina Lim won't allow Nagasuka to pass to mount. Laborina Lim tries to roll over but Nagasuka keeps him under control. Nagasuka is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Laborina Lim defends it well. Laborina Lim missing with punches from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Laborina Lim has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Nagasuka is working away from the top position though. Laborina Lim is trying to get back to full guard. Nagasuka stops Laborina Lim from getting back to his feet.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Nagasuka takes a body punch but keeps moving. Laborina Lim rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Nagasuka moves out of range and avoids them all easily. A decent looking cross lands there for Laborina Lim. Nagasuka looks for a takedown but Laborina Lim sprawls well. Laborina Lim could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Laborina Lim keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Laborina Lim swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Laborina Lim darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Nagasuka shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Laborina Lim is trying to defend but Nagasuka finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Nagasuka missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Laborina Lim tries to get to full guard but Nagasuka has control of the leg. Nagasuka slows the pace down in half guard. Nagasuka is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Laborina Lim defends it well. Nagasuka is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nagasuka working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Nagasuka thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Laborina Lim's head. Nagasuka has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Nagasuka is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Laborina Lim to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Laborina Lim shrugs it off. Laborina Lim is looking to improve his position but Nagasuka isn't that keen on the idea. Nagasuka landing shots from mount. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Nagasuka is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Nagasuka!
