Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between James Dean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Cromartie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, James Dean!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Antonio Cromartie!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Sam Margolis and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dean fails with the takedown.
Dean tries to clinch up but Cromartie circles away and keeps his distance.
Dean could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Cromartie tries a head kick but it misses.

Dean clinches up against the cage.
Cromartie jumps guard but Dean stands there with Cromartie around his waist. Cromartie gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Dean tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Cromartie just stands there and leans against the cage.
Dean lands a body punch in the clinch.

Cromartie pulls guard successfully.
Dean stops Cromartie from standing up.
Cromartie keeping moving, preventing Dean from controlling successfully.

Dean gets to his feet - Cromartie follows without any prompting.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dean shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Cromartie sprawls well. Cromartie wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dean gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Dean. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dean is breathing heavily.

Cromartie closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Cromartie has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Cromartie shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

so Dean counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Dean has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Dean trying to control but Cromartie is working from the bottom.
Dean working some strikes from top position.
Dean trying to control the position from guard on top but Cromartie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Cromartie pushes Dean off and gets back to his feet.

Cromartie fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Dean, pushing him back against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dean goes for a takedown attempt but Cromartie pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cromartie is defended easily by Dean.
Dean tries to close the distance and clinch but Cromartie swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Dean shoots and misses
and Cromartie makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Dean really felt that one!
Dean gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Cromartie counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Dean is working an open guard so Cromartie takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Cromartie is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Dean fails with the takedown

and Cromartie counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Cromartie.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Dean wants to stand up but Cromartie is controlling him.
Cromartie advances to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cromartie stands up from half guard.
Cromartie tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Dean swivels and escapes.
Dean tries to close the distance and clinch but Cromartie swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Cromartie closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Cromartie lands in his opponent's guard.
Cromartie prevents Dean from getting back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Antonio Cromartie dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Cromartie chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Dean can pounce on him.
Dean throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Cromartie fails with an attempt to clinch.
Cromartie doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Dean counters with a nice low kick that buckles Cromartie's knee momentarily.
No luck for Dean with that takedown attempt.
Cromartie tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dean instigates a clinch.
Dean tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Cromartie just stands there and leans against the cage.
Dean has Cromartie pressed against the cage, preventing Cromartie from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Cromartie tries to score a body lock takedown but Dean shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Dean misses with an elbow strike.

Dean has Cromartie pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Cromartie manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Dean. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dean tries to stall but Cromartie uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Cromartie keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Dean's efforts to push away.
The referee is keeping an eye on Cromartie - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Dean is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Cromartie is working for takedown but Dean is calmly controlling the position for now.
Dean wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Cromartie manages to pull guard.

Dean drops back, looking for a kneebar! Cromartie looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Cromartie looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Cromartie!
Dean on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Dean tries to get out of the position.
Dean wants to control but Cromartie postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cromartie has control of an arm but Dean manages to advance to Cromartie's back!
Will Dean go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Cromartie can't escape the position.

Dean has got his arm under Cromartie's chin working for the choke… has he got it? It looks pretty tight! Oh! Cromartie has spun round into Dean's guard beautifully! Well done that man!

Cromartie drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cromartie jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Cromartie wants to control from the top but Dean keeps moving.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Dean bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Cromartie tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Dean easily slips into full mount!
Dean prevents Cromartie from getting the reversal.
Cromartie tries to lock up and control but Dean gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Dean can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Cromartie is looking to escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Cromartie is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Dean throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Cromartie because Dean loaded up on that one.
Dean thowing shots but they're missing.
Dean unloads with some shots from mount but Cromartie bucks and avoids them well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Cromartie is looking to improve his position but Dean isn't that keen on the idea.
Cromartie is trying to reverse the position but instead Dean has taken his back - oops!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Dean dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Nice takedown defense from Cromartie. No joy for Dean on that attempt.
Cromartie throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Dean's head.
Cromartie leaves Dean with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Dean tries to keep at a distance but Cromartie has taken the fight into the clinch.
Cromartie scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Dean tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Cromartie smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Dean. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cromartie shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Dean as he jumps to the side.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Dean throws a leg kick which misses Cromartie's front leg but catches the back leg as Cromartie tries to avoid it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cromartie fails with an attempt to clinch.
Dean avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Dean circles away from the clinch attempt

so Dean counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Dean wants to control from the top but Cromartie keeps moving.
Antonio Cromartie has got the better of the ground game so far.
Dean is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Cromartie bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dean's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cromartie is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Cromartie wants to stand but Dean is controlling his posture from full guard.
Cromartie is pushing down on Dean's leg trying to pass to half guard. Dean is fighting to maintain full guard but Cromartie has managed to sneak the leg through.
Cromartie prevents Dean from standing back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cromartie is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Dean tries to get to full guard but Cromartie has control of the leg.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dean wants to control but Cromartie is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Cromartie content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Cromartie not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Dean is not content to let Cromartie control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Dean is looking to improve his position.
Dean might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Cromartie stuns Dean with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Cromartie gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Dean counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Dean.

Cromartie pushes Dean off and scrambles back to his feet.

Dean shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Cromartie's guard.
Dean wants to stand but Cromartie has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

And that's the end of the fight!
James Dean showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Dean has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
