Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Douglas Maicon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Siphiwe Tshabalala (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Douglas Maicon!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Siphiwe Tshabalala!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Paul Tew and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tshabalala closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
You can see the frustration on Maicon's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Tshabalala is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Maicon is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Maicon is trying to control Tshabalala's posture but Tshabalala avoids it.

Tshabalala wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Maicon, who protects the arm well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Tshabalala is keen to just control but Maicon is a slippery customer.

Maicon takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Maicon fails with the takedown

Tshabalala shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Maicon is trying to defend but Tshabalala finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Tshabalala tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tshabalala has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Tshabalala cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Tshabalala is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Maicon to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Maicon shrugs it off.
Maicon wants to hold on but Tshabalala pushes him away.
