Mancinelli comes to the ring accompanied by Lookin' Out My Backdoor. Pepinhos is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Macaco - Hacen Falta Dos. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Michele Mancinelli! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Marco Pepinhos! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Sosuke Kotani and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pepinhos throws a front kick aimed at Mancinelli's knee but Mancinelli avoids it well. Mancinelli connects with the punch. Mancinelli looks to score with a jab to the body but Pepinhos is just out of range. Pepinhos slips a jab from Mancinelli. Pepinhos gets a takedown into half guard. Mancinelli has his hands clasped together around Pepinhos's back. He's all about the action. Mancinelli is trying to control but can't.
Mancinelli tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Pepinhos has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Mancinelli really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pepinhos moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Mancinelli has worked his arm free - good work by Mancinelli!
Pepinhos tries for a kimura but Mancinelli is defending well. Pepinhos lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Pepinhos is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Mancinelli has escaped the position, nice work there. Mancinelli avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Pepinhos.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pepinhos working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Mancinelli is looking for a sweep. Mancinelli is trying to control Pepinhos's posture but Pepinhos avoids it. Pepinhos working the ground and pound but Mancinelli is defending the strikes. Mancinelli tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Pepinhos wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Pepinhos looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Mancinelli scores with a body shot.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pepinhos avoids a punch combination nicely.
Mancinelli goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Mancinelli lands a with a good body shot. Michele Mancinelli seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Decent striking displayed by Mancinelli there. Pepinhos dives in and grabs Mancinelli's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mancinelli pushes down on Pepinhos's head and hops out. Pepinhos chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Mancinelli can pounce on him.
Mancinelli lands with a nice body punch. Pepinhos looks gassed! Mancinelli misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mancinelli throws a body punch but Pepinhos moves out of range. Pepinhos on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Mancinelli shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Mancinelli showed some decent athleticism there. Mancinelli controlling the pace. Pepinhos wants to improve his position but Mancinelli is controlling well.
Mancinelli missing with the ground and pound from half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Michele Mancinelli dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
A combination from Mancinelli does no damage. Mancinelli throws a right and a left that Pepinhos avoids nicely. Pepinhos showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Mancinelli.
Mancinelli throws a right hand that Pepinhos ducks under and follows up with a left that Pepinhos also avoids with ease. Mancinelli throws a head kick but Pepinhos moves out of range.
Mancinelli swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pepinhos closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Mancinelli looking to land some kicks to the body here.

That's one minute gone in the round. Mancinelli throws a leg kick and Pepinhos counters with a thumping low kick. Pepinhos looks to throw a body kick and Mancinelli counters with a thumping low kick. Mancinelli tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Pepinhos paws at him with a jab and circles away. Pepinhos changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mancinelli looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Pepinhos is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Pepinhos looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Mancinelli is avoiding damage well.
Mancinelli is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Pepinhos's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Mancinelli trying to control but Pepinhos postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mancinelli desperately trying to maintain half guard. Pepinhos thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Pepinhos prevents Mancinelli from improving his position. Pepinhos is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Pepinhos looking for a guillotine from mount but Mancinelli is having none of it. Mancinelli regains half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mancinelli slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Pepinhos trying to control the position from guard on top but Mancinelli is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Pepinhos is trying to land a reversal but Mancinelli doesn't like that idea too much. He pushed the legs to the side and dives into side control. He's managed to grab a loose arm triangle. Mancinelli is tightening it up though! This could be trouble for Pepinhos! Pepinhos trying desperately to escape but he's gone limp! He's out! Wooooorld class Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from Mancinelli!
