The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hathaway shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Romario's guard.
Hathaway trying to control but Romario is working from the bottom.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Romario manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Romario can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hathaway is looking to escape.
Hathaway is looking to improve his position but Romario isn't that keen on the idea.
Romario misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Hathaway sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Romario is keen to just control but Hathaway is a slippery customer.
Romario seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Romario tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Hathaway.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Romario lands with a nice combination. Hathaway backs away looking to recover.

Romario is trying to maintain the position but Hathaway is very close to passing his half guard.

Romario holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Romario is looking for a sweep. Hathaway is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Romario has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hathaway is working away from the top position though.

Hathaway is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Romario is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
