PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Kerns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Linden Cage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kerns is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Linden Cage will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kerns has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Cage avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Kerns throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cage works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Kerns is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Cage can't keep his opponent in guard - Kerns advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Cage thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Kerns if he has to take too many more of those.

Kerns is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Cage is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Cage is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Poor strikes thrown by Kerns there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Cage's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Cage duly obliges.
Kerns avoids the head kick by Cage.
Kerns circles away from the clinch attempt.
Cage connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Cage throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Cage lands a nice looking kick to the body. Kerns takes a step back to recover.

Cage moves into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cage wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Kerns has him pressed against the cage.

Kerns has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Cage clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Can Cage hold on?! Kerns is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.
Kerns lands a punch to the side of the head from the back.
Kerns lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Cage.
Cage takes a big shot to the side of the head.
Kerns is working the ground and pound. Can Cage escape?
Kerns is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Kerns gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Kerns gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Kerns apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Kerns changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cage tries to avoid it but Kerns manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cage to the ground. Cage escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Kerns.

Cage throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

Kerns shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kerns has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Cage's face.

Kerns tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Kerns thowing shots but they're missing.
Kerns looking to ground and pound but Cage is blocking nicely.

Kerns throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Cage because Kerns loaded up on that one.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Kerns takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Cage is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Kerns thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Kerns throwing strikes here but Cage is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jake Kerns showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Kerns has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
