PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jack Flack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jacco Coco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Flack!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jacco Coco!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Coco moves into range and clinches up with Flack.
Flack is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Coco is defending well for now.
Flack has Coco pressed against the cage, preventing Coco from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Flack drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Coco gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Coco wants to get back to striking at distance but Flack won't allow it.
Flack prevents the takedown attempt.
Flack looking for a takedown.
Flack gets underhooks to prevent Coco's takedown attempt.
Flack is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Coco pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Flack. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Coco's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Coco is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Flack's half guard.

Flack makes his way to full guard, as Coco worked for a kimura.

Coco should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Coco wants to control from the top but Flack keeps moving.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Coco tries to free his leg and advance position but Flack is retaining full guard.

Flack is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Coco missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Flack trying to control the position.
Coco really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Flack. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Flack is breathing heavily.
Coco trying to control but Flack is working from the bottom.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Despite being in the dominant position, Jacco Coco just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Flack on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Coco. Coco obviously looking to wear him down.
Flack gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Coco counters with an inside leg kick.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Flack wants to clinch but Coco slips to the side

and Coco counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Coco is trying to control. Flack wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jacco Coco dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Coco decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Coco is looking to take a break and control but Flack is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Coco tries to stand and escape but Flack actually recovers to full guard.
Coco trying to control the position from guard on top but Flack is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Flack is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Flack will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Coco trying to control but Flack is working from the bottom.
Coco looking to pass the guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Flack has a closed guard, preventing Coco from standing up.
Coco stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Flack swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Coco got a little sloppy there for a moment and Flack has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Coco has managed to get both his arms back between Flack's legs - danger averted.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Flack had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Coco defends it easily.
Coco wants to stand but Flack is controlling his posture from full guard.

Coco drops back looking for a leg! Flack is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Flack manages to kick Coco off! Coco jumps back into Flack's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Flack has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Coco can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Flack preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Flack dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Coco forces Flack back against the cage and clinches.
Coco jumps guard but Flack stands there with Coco around his waist. Coco gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Coco gets control of Flack's arms and successfully pulls guard. Coco will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Flack wants to control from the top but Coco keeps moving.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Coco is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Flack is controlling him.
Flack trying to control the position from guard on top but Coco is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Coco can do anything to dispel that myth.
Flack passes Coco's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Coco slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Flack is pushing down on Coco's leg trying to pass to half guard. Coco is fighting to maintain full guard but Flack has managed to sneak the leg through.
Coco wants to get back to full guard.
Flack wants to take a breather but Coco is having none of it.

Flack is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Flack seems to be working for a kimura but Coco defends the submission attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Flack decides to stand up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Coco takes the fight into the clinch.

Coco escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Flack with a poor takedown

and Coco counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Jacco Coco has got the better of the ground game so far.
Coco wants to pass the guard but Flack is defending well.
Coco landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Coco is looking for a kimura but Flack is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Coco to get the leverage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jacco Coco comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Coco has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
