Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karen Darabedyan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Darabedyan has chosen Ara Gevorgyan - Artsakh as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Karen Darabedyan! The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Nice takedown defense from Jones. No joy for Darabedyan on that attempt. Darabedyan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Jones paws at him with a jab and circles away. Darabedyan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jones.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Darabedyan. Darabedyan misses with a two punch combination.
Darabedyan cracks the inside of Jones's front leg. Jones lands a head shot. Darabedyan staying out of range there. Jones bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Darabedyan's head backwards. Darabedyan connects with a crisp jab. Jones lands with a shot to the body. Jones lands a with a good body shot. Karen Darabedyan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jones dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Darabedyan rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jones moves out of range and avoids them all easily. A combination from Darabedyan does no damage. Jones swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Darabedyan. Jones lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Jones comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Jones scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. He's got his arms around Jones's waist but Jones gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Darabedyan off to one side. Darabedyan misses with a wild combination.

Darabedyan takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. A decent looking cross lands there for Jones. Jones slaps away a takedown attempt from Darabedyan, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Darabedyan looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Jones lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Jones. Jones punishes Darabedyan's body with a nice straight punch. Jones keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Darabedyan moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Jones goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Jones throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Jones throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Darabedyan stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Darabedyan is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jones sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Darabedyan has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye. Darabedyan has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Jones cracks Darabedyan with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the ropes. Darabedyan takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Nice shot lands for Jones. Karen Darabedyan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Darabedyan is breathing heavily. Jones will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Jones lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
A decent looking cross lands there for Jones. Jones stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jones wants it to stay on the feet. Darabedyan gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Jones throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Darabedyan on the side of the head. Darabedyan shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Jones napping and manages to drive through into side control! Darabedyan in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. You can see the frustration on Jones's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Darabedyan looks up at the clock and then as Jones takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Darabedyan smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Jones pushes Darabedyan away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Darabedyan gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jones manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Jones dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Jones works Darabedyan's body with a nice hook. Darabedyan fails with a takedown attempt. Darabedyan on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. A jab from Jones does it's job there.
