PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vic Vinegar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christian Caldwell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Vinegar might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Theme. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Caldwell misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Vinegar.
Caldwell shoots in for a double leg but Vinegar sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Nice defenses there by Vinegar.
Vinegar throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Caldwell stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Caldwell on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Vinegar. Vinegar obviously looking to wear him down.
Caldwell tries to land a front kick but Vinegar steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Vinegar steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Caldwell.

Vinegar throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Caldwell on the side of the head.
Vinegar paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Vinegar throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Vinegar looks to land a combination but Caldwell avoids it well.
Vic Vinegar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Caldwell throws a hook to the side of Vinegar's head but Vinegar sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Vinegar is in all sorts of trouble here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vinegar reaches up to try and control the position but Caldwell seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Vinegar rolls and tries to escape and now Caldwell has his back!

Vinegar postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Vinegar has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Caldwell!

Vinegar is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Caldwell is just riding it out for now. Vinegar eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Caldwell tries to roll over but Vinegar keeps him under control.

Caldwell is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Vinegar pulls his head out easily.

Vinegar is working for a kimura here but Caldwell manages to reverse the position and he's now in Vinegar's guard.
Vinegar pulls Caldwell in close to prevent any damage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vinegar manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Caldwell manages to get himself to full guard.

Vinegar drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Caldwell dives on top into guard.

Caldwell is pushing Vinegar up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Vinegar tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Vinegar pushes Caldwell back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Vinegar is fighting off a takedown attempt but Caldwell is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Vinegar to the mat. Vinegar regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Vinegar escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Caldwell gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Vinegar manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Caldwell has control of Vinegar's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Vinegar regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Vinegar is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Caldwell locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Vinegar is forced to tap!
