The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Thomas!


It looks like Blue Steel has been cut.
Nice takedown defense from Thomas. No joy for Steel on that attempt.

Thomas scores with a takedown into Steel's guard.
Thomas controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Thomas would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Thomas wants to control from the top but Steel keeps moving.
Thomas throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Steel works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Steel is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Thomas defends well.

Thomas shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Steel napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Thomas throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Steel works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Steel has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Thomas is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Steel tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Thomas looking to hit a scissor sweep but Steel is one step ahead there.
Thomas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Steel. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Thomas tries to clinch up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Steel avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

and Thomas counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Steel's guard now.

Thomas is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Well Thomas has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
