PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lylan Mitchikin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mario Kreutzberg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Lylan Mitchikin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mario Kreutzberg!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Vladimir Khabensky and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kreutzberg pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kreutzberg misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Mitchikin closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kreutzberg did well to prevent Mitchikin getting side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mitchikin decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Kreutzberg tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Mitchikin shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kreutzberg napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Kreutzberg is trying to get back to half guard.
Mitchikin remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
You can see the frustration on Kreutzberg's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Mitchikin decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Mitchikin has picked Kreutzberg up - he's going for a ride! Mitchikin dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Mitchikin cracks Kreutzberg with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Kreutzberg is desperately trying to improve his position but Mitchikin has a good base and remains in mount.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Kreutzberg wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

Mitchikin has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Mitchikin shoots for a double leg takedown but Kreutzberg sprawls well. He's pushed Mitchikin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

It looks like Lylan Mitchikin has been cut.

Mitchikin tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Mitchikin jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Kreutzberg is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Kreutzberg and Mitchikin has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Mitchikin misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Mitchikin circles away from the clinch attempt.
Kreutzberg throws a sloppy head kick and Mitchikin moves out of range easily.
No luck for Kreutzberg with that takedown attempt.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close second round but I would say that Lylan Mitchikin will probably get the nod.

Kreutzberg throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Mitchikin fails with an attempt to clinch.

Mitchikin shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Kreutzberg is trying to defend but Mitchikin finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Kreutzberg wants to improve his position but Mitchikin is controlling well.
Mitchikin moves nicely into side control.

Kreutzberg takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Mitchikin stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Mitchikin moves into the clinch successfully.
Kreutzberg trying to control the position but instead, Mitchikin has worked for underhooks and has pushed Kreutzberg into the cage.
Mitchikin wants to get back to striking at distance but Kreutzberg won't allow it.

Kreutzberg is fighting off a takedown attempt but Mitchikin is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Kreutzberg to the mat. Kreutzberg regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Mitchikin decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Kreutzberg throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Mitchikin.
Mitchikin feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Kreutzberg's calf.
Mitchikin lands with an overhand left.
Mitchikin throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Kreutzberg makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Mitchikin is looking to land body kicks.

Mitchikin shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mitchikin is thwarting Kreutzberg's attempts to control the position.

Mitchikin decides to stand up.
Mario Kreutzberg seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mitchikin shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Mitchikin showed some decent athleticism there.

Mitchikin pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Mitchikin takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

A nice elbow there by Mitchikin.
Kreutzberg wants to hold on but Mitchikin pushes him away.
Kreutzberg might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Mitchikin kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Mitchikin has hold of Kreutzberg's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Kreutzberg manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mitchikin, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
