Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jerry Cho!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rao.
Nice sprawl there from Cho as Rao shoots in.
Rao misses with a body kick.

Rao feints and as Cho raises his hands in defense, Rao changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Cho wants to stand but Rao is controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rao manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Cho manages to get himself to full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Cho is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Rao's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Rao lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Rao in particular looking to stall.
Cho pushes Rao off looking to stand but Rao dives back in and keeps control.

Rao seems to be working for a kimura but Cho defends the submission attempt.
Cho slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Cho looking for a sweep. Not yet Cho, not yet.
Rao stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cho swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A solid leg kick lands there for Cho.

Rao is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Cho's shoulder. That is not cool.

Rao looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Cho is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Rao is controlling him well.
A lull in the action here.
Cho is breathing heavily.

Rao thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Cho prevents Rao from moving into mount.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Rao prevents Cho from escaping the position.
A lull in the action here as Rao stalls from top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rao advances to full mount.
Rao controlling his opponent.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Meng Rao just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Rao looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Rao seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Rao has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Rao is thwarting Cho's attempts to control the position.
Cho looks like he's trying to stand up.
Rao is controlling the pace.
Cho pushes Rao off looking to stand but Rao dives back in and keeps control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Cho has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rao is working away from the top position though.
Rao wants to pass the guard but Cho is defending well.

Cho is trying to stand back up but Rao is controlling him

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Rao tries to close the distance and clinch but Cho swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Cho slips a jab and a cross from Rao.

Cho gets a clinch.
Rao will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Cho up against the cage.

Cho breaks from the clinch.
Rao gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Cho counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Cho fails with an attempt to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Meng Rao dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Rao throws a head kick that misses
and Cho counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Rao tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Cho is looking to slow Rao down with leg kicks.
Rao tries for a takedown but Cho sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Cho swinging wilding here.
Meng Rao is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rao fails to land the takedown.
Rao closes this distance looking for a takedown but Cho circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Meng Rao. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Cho.

Cho decides to stand back up.
Cho displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Rao throws out the jab.
Rao fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Rao chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Cho can pounce on him.
A slapping leg kick lands for Cho.

Cho pushes Rao up against the cage in a clinch.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Cho wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Cho is fighting off a takedown attempt but Rao is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Cho to the mat. Cho regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Meng Rao overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Cho not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Rao is stalling in the full guard.
Rao is pushing down on Cho's leg trying to pass to half guard. Cho is fighting to maintain full guard but Rao has managed to sneak the leg through.
Rao looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Rao perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Rao is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cho is just riding it out for now. Rao eventually gives up the hold.

Rao seems to be working for a kimura but Cho defends the submission attempt.
Still in half guard, Rao seems content to control.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Rao in particular looking to stall.
Rao is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Rao is nestled in close to Cho, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Cho is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Cho has given up his back. Will we see Rao going for some submissions?

and Cho counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Rao closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Rao is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Rao passes to full mount!
Jerry Cho has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

You get the feeling that Cho really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rao, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
