Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jack Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy McNulty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Thomas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jimmy McNulty!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McNulty throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Thomas.
McNulty tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Thomas was well out of range. Poor timing from McNulty.
McNulty stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Thomas.
McNulty throws a jab but it's blocked by Thomas.
Thomas shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. McNulty defends it nicely.
Nice uppercut there from McNulty.
McNulty looks to score with a jab to the body but Thomas is just out of range.
Thomas misses with a body shot.

Thomas closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming McNulty to the mat! McNulty manages to get full guard.
Thomas trying to control but McNulty is working from the bottom.
Thomas pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. McNulty is keeping the position for now.
Thomas throws and elbow that misses. McNulty uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Thomas's guard. Nice move by McNulty!

Thomas is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. McNulty is aware though and is defending well.

McNulty lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Thomas trying to control the position.

Thomas is looking for a triangle but McNulty pushes his legs off easily.
McNulty wants to control from the top but Thomas keeps moving.
McNulty passes into half guard.
Thomas tries to regain full guard. Instead though, McNulty has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Thomas takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Thomas is in a horrible position here. McNulty smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
McNulty fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Thomas is trying desperately to improve position.

McNulty lands a nice shot to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McNulty cracks Thomas with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
McNulty is landing with some decent strikes but Thomas is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Thomas is looking to get to half guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

McNulty in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

Thomas is breathing heavily.
Thomas is squirming around, avoiding McNulty's attempts to control the action.

McNulty lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
A nice elbow there by McNulty.


Thomas is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Thomas keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Oh Thomas is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

McNulty is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Thomas can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
McNulty controlling from mount.
Thomas seems to have got his legs back now.
McNulty working away from the top, dropping strikes.
McNulty trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Thomas is bucking up trying to escape but McNulty cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
McNulty looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Thomas is trying desperately to improve position.
Thomas sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Thomas is trying is best to control the position here.
McNulty seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Thomas does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jimmy McNulty dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


McNulty throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
No joy there for McNulty, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
McNulty throws a right and a left that both miss.
McNulty moves out of range of the body kick from Thomas.
Thomas looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
McNulty scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Thomas doesn't seem bothered though.
McNulty lands a body shot.
McNulty stuns Thomas with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
A decent looking cross lands there for McNulty.
Jack Thomas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts McNulty, as that shot connected.
McNulty throws a right hand that Thomas ducks under and follows up with a left that Thomas also avoids with ease.
McNulty throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Thomas sees it coming and avoids it easily.
McNulty is looking to clinch but Thomas is avoiding it.
McNulty cracks Thomas with an open hand slap.
Thomas changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. McNulty tries to avoid it but Thomas manages to keep hold of a leg and drag McNulty to the ground. McNulty escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
McNulty throws a right hand that Thomas ducks under and follows up with a left that Thomas also avoids with ease.

McNulty clinches.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
McNulty is pushing Thomas up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Thomas tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

McNulty breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
McNulty misses with a wild combination.
McNulty looks to score with a jab to the body but Thomas is just out of range.
McNulty dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Thomas takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
McNulty throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
McNulty moves out of range as Thomas throws a body kick.
McNulty connects with the punch.
McNulty uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Thomas.
McNulty ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Horrible takedown by Thomas or perhaps it was just good defense by McNulty which made him look bad.
Thomas avoids the body shot from McNulty.
McNulty throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Thomas stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
McNulty lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

McNulty connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
McNulty ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Thomas moves away.
Nice jab there from McNulty.
Thomas does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
McNulty scores with a jab.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
McNulty throws a good cross that connects.

McNulty connects with a right hand. Thomas shakes it off.
McNulty drops Thomas with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Thomas! McNulty dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:01 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jimmy McNulty!
