Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Darin Blood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Parantainen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Parantainen will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Darin Blood! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Parantainen! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fighters circle momentarily. Parantainen darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Blood looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Blood lands with a punch from half guard. Parantainen avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Blood. Parantainen pushes Blood off and gets back to his feet. Blood slips a jab and a cross from Parantainen.
Blood scores with a jab to the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Parantainen throws a series of punches but Blood avoids them all with ease. Parantainen swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Parantainen throws the left hand but Blood avoids the punch easily. Parantainen lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Blood circles away quickly and effectively. Parantainen throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Parantainen misses with a wild combination.
Blood lands with a thumping leg kick.
John Parantainen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Parantainen looks gassed! Blood thuds a left hand into Parantainen's body. Blood has closed the distance and engaged Parantainen in a clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Blood lands with a short shot to the head. Knees in the clinch landing for Blood.
Blood lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Parantainen wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Blood has him pressed against the cage. Blood lands on the inside with an uppercut. Parantainen working hard to break the clinch. Blood breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Blood rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Parantainen moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Parantainen dodges the punch combination from Blood.
Blood misses with a double jab.
Parantainen fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Parantainen swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Blood counters with a leg kick then a big left hand that sends Parantainen down! Blood is looking to finish but Parantainen is intelligently defending himself.
Parantainen is rocked! Blood trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Parantainen is still in real trouble! Can Blood finish him? Blood throwing strikes from guard but Parantainen blocks nicely. Parantainen seems to have recovered his senses. Parantainen preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Blood throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Parantainen works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Blood drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Blood jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Parantainen preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Blood accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Blood throwing strikes but missing.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Parantainen loads up on a big right hand but Blood slips the punch. John Parantainen is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Parantainen throws a combination that misses and Blood counters with a two punch combo. Parantainen misses with a double jab
and Blood counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Parantainen's guard now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Blood with a flurry of punches that miss. Blood throws a big right hand that misses. Blood trying to control the position from guard on top but Parantainen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Parantainen wants to stand and escape but Blood is having none of it. Blood wants to control from the top but Parantainen keeps moving. Blood passes Parantainen's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Blood landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Blood has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Blood in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Parantainen tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Blood!
