Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Jose Faber! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jimmy Balmer! The judges for this bout are James Glass, Donald Grub and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Balmer shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Faber manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Faber is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Balmer drops back looking for a leg! Faber is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Faber manages to kick Balmer off! Balmer jumps back into Faber's guard. Balmer won't allow Faber to get back to his feet. Balmer in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Balmer throws a big right hand that misses. Faber is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Balmer defends well. Balmer is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Balmer drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Balmer jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Faber looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Balmer is defending well. Faber quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Balmer has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Faber celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
