Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Holliday (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and M J Shain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Holliday might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Break Stuff. Shain has chosen Thunderstruck as his entrance music. M J Shain has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 1, fighting out of New York, John Holliday!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, M J Shain!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Lou da Vinci and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shain throws a head kick but Holliday moves out of range.

Holliday closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Shain to the mat! Shain manages to get full guard.
Shain wants to get back to his feet but Holliday is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Holliday thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Shain looking for a sweep. Not yet Shain, not yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shain is trying to control the position but Holliday postures up.
Shain trying to strike off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Holliday loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Holliday advances to half guard.
Holliday moves into full mount! Shain won't be happy about that!
Holliday lands a heavy elbow.


It looks like M J Shain has been cut.
Shain wants to hold on but Holliday pushes him away.
Holliday breaks from Shain's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Shain is desperately trying to improve his position but Holliday has a good base and remains in mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Holliday misses with a head shot.

Holliday has control of Shain's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Shain regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Shain wants to get back to his feet.
Shain is desperately trying to improve his position but Holliday has a good base and remains in mount.

Holliday goes for an armbar but Shain turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Shain.
Shain thows a big elbow that misses.

Holliday is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Shain is aware though and is defending well.

Holliday looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Holliday is breathing heavily.
Shain is in close to Holliday's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Shain with a nice head shot there.
Holliday keeping moving, preventing Shain from controlling successfully.
Shain trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Holliday has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Shain can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Shain working some strikes from top position.
Shain stands up over Holliday, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Shain with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Shain working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Holliday's head.
Shain throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Shain passes Holliday's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Holliday is looking to improve his position.

Holliday looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Shain is nestled in close to Holliday, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Shain is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Holliday is just riding it out for now. Shain eventually gives up the hold.
Holliday makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Holliday.
Holliday wants to sweep here but Shain controlling him for the moment.
Shain is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Shain must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Holliday has momentary wrist control but Shain slips an elbow through the middle.
Shain throwing strikes from guard but Holliday blocks nicely.

Holliday looking for a triangle here. Shain is fighting it but it looks tight! Holliday pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Shain is tapping out - this one is all over!
