Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tommy Boyce! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul Franko! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Daniel Franklin and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Boyce misses with the combination.
Boyce throws a series of punches but Franko avoids them all with ease. Boyce lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Boyce looks to land a combination but Franko avoids it well. Franko misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Boyce throws a jab when Franko was well out of range. Boyce fails to land with a series of punches.
Franko keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Boyce. A punch combination from Boyce misses. Boyce swats away the attempt to clinch by Franko. Tommy Boyce seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A combination from Boyce does no damage. Franko shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Boyce pinned against the cage. Boyce gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Boyce throws a right and a left that Franko avoids nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Boyce misses with a two punch combination.
Franko is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Boyce throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Franko. Boyce misses with a wild combination.
Boyce swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Franko shoots in for a double leg but Boyce sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Tommy Boyce has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Franko. Franko checks the leg kick. Boyce swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Boyce. Boyce fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Franko, pushing him back against the cage. Franko keeps control of Boyce as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Franko has clasped his hands together around Boyce's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Franko prevents Boyce from escaping the position. Boyce is breathing heavily. You can see the frustration on Boyce's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Boyce is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Boyce knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Franko on the ground. Boyce is letting Franko control him for a moment. Boyce tries to escape but Franko is in control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Franko has knee on belly and moves into mount. Franko gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! Boyce misses with a double jab.
Horrible takedown by Franko or perhaps it was just good defense by Boyce which made him look bad. Franko moves into the clinch. Franko drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Franko stands and steps away. Boyce gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Boyce throws a lazy right hand but Franko sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Some wild striking there from Boyce.
Boyce throws a one two combo.
Franko misses with a takedown and Boyce counters with a three punch combo that has Franko backing up. Franko nods at Boyce to acknowledge the strikes. Franko closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Franko lands in his opponent's guard. Boyce wants to sweep here but Franko controlling him for the moment. Franko stands up from guard. Let's bang! Boyce lands a left and a right that sends Franko crashing to the canvas! Boyce dives into mount looking to finish!
Franko is rocked!
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Boyce scoring with strikes but Franko is staying in there. Franko is still in real trouble! Can Boyce finish him? Boyce fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Boyce controlling the position easily from mount. Boyce lands a heavy elbow. Boyce looking to control and managing it successfully. Boyce postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Franko looks a forlorn figure.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Boyce raining down shots from the mount! Boyce controlling from the full mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tommy Boyce dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Boyce is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Franko flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Franko is out cold! Boyce holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Tommy Boyce!
