Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shawn Malibu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jose Salcedo!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Cecil Peabody and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Malibu tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Salcedo paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Malibu throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Malibu waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Salcedo.
Salcedo fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Malibu, pushing him back against the cage.
Salcedo lands a body shot in the clinch.
Salcedo creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Malibu's defenses.
It looks like Shawn Malibu has been cut.
Malibu jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Salcedo walks away with a smile on his face. Malibu gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
The fight stays on the outside here - Salcedo looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Salcedo defending well as Malibu loads up on a big left hand.
Malibu closes the distance looking to clinch
and Salcedo decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Malibu's guard.
Salcedo passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Malibu is looking to reverse the position.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Salcedo tries to advance to mount but can't.
Salcedo grinds an elbow into Malibu's temple.
Salcedo working the head and body with strikes.
Salcedo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Malibu knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Malibu is looking for a sweep.
Malibu taking punishment in the form of punches.
Malibu regains half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Salcedo has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Malibu defend it? Salcedo steps over the head and cranks it - Malibu is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Salcedo!
