PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rosco Espino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eswin Juarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rosco Espino!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Eswin Juarez!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Espino drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Espino trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Espino stands up from Juarez's guard - Espino perhaps looking for a knockout.
Juarez listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Espino circles away from the clinch attempt.
Juarez fails with an attempt to clinch.

Espino looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Espino trying to control the position from guard on top but Juarez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Espino works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Espino prevents Juarez from improving his position.
Espino thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Juarez's head.
Espino could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Espino moves nicely into side control.

Espino is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Juarez is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Espino decides to stand up, so the ref orders Juarez to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.

and Espino counters with a shoot takedown. Juarez fights it but they end up in guard.
Espino makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Juarez is trying to control the position but Espino postures up.
Espino controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Juarez looks gassed!

Juarez is looking for a triangle but Espino pushes his legs off easily.
Juarez can't keep his opponent in guard - Espino advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Espino wants to pass the guard but Juarez is defending well.
Espino is trying to control the action in half guard but Juarez is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Espino is looking for a kimura here.
Espino works his way into full mount!
Juarez keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Juarez is trying to escape the mount.

Espino stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Juarez lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Espino sprawling to the canvas. Juarez follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Espino hang on?


Espino is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Juarez is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Oh Espino is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Espino is trying to control but can't.
Espino has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Juarez lands with a punch from half guard.

Espino is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Juarez pulls his head out easily.
Well, if Juarez is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Espino regains full guard. Nicely done.
Juarez trying to control the position from guard on top but Espino is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Espino seems to have got his legs back now.

Espino looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Espino is looking to sinch up a triangle. Juarez throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Espino's body to avoid the submission. Espino has instead reached around Juarez's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Espino arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:01 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Rosco Espino!
