And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richards slips a jab and a cross from Marquiss.
Marquiss lands a right hook to the body.
Marquiss misses with a double jab.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Marquiss can do anything to dispel that myth.

Richards stands up.
Marquiss misses with a two punch combination.
Richards misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Marquiss.
Marquiss throws a right hand that Richards ducks under and follows up with a left that Richards also avoids with ease.

Marquiss tries to score with a low kick but Richards moves his leg out of the way.

Marquiss gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Richards is looking to stand up but Marquiss won't let him.

Richards working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Marquiss's head.
Richards sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Marquiss's guard.
Richards is breathing heavily.

Richards is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Marquiss doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Richards.
Richards throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Richards wants to take a breather but Marquiss is having none of it.
Richards thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Marquiss's head.

Richards stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Marquiss to get to his feet.
Marquiss will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Marquiss throws a hook to the side of Richards's head but Richards sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

and Marquiss takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Richards throws a series of strikes that have Marquiss backpedaling.
Marquiss scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Marquiss tries to close the distance and clinch up but Richards swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Richards works over Marquiss's head and body with a nice combination.
Marquiss fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Richards manages to avoid it.

and Richards counters with a three punch combo that has Marquiss backing up. Marquiss nods at Richards to acknowledge the strikes.

and Marquiss counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Richards is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Oooh a lovely combination from Richards sends Marquiss down but not out. Richards dives into side control looking to finish.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Richards stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Marquiss tries to clinch there but Richards circles away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Marquiss with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Marquiss looks to throw the jab but Richards is out of range.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Marquiss lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Richards has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Richards and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
No joy there for Richards, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Marquiss throws the left hand but Richards avoids the punch easily.
Marquiss throws a left and a right that both miss

and Richards counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Richards.

Marquiss throws the kick towards the body but Richards avoids it.

Richards fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Richards swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
