Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Benny Bjerke! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Boba Fettucini! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Leandro Rodrigues and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bjerke misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Fettucini leaves Bjerke with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Bjerke shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Fettucini tries to get to full guard but Bjerke has control of the leg. Bjerke is working for a kimura but Fettucini is defending it quite comfortably.
Fettucini tries to roll over but Bjerke keeps him under control. Bjerke is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Fettucini is just riding it out for now. Bjerke eventually gives up the hold. Fettucini wants to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bjerke tries to pass to full mount but Fettucini defends it. Bjerke is looking for a kimura here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Fettucini wants to control but Bjerke is keeping busy and won't allow it.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Fettucini circles away from the clinch attempt.
Bjerke looks for a takedown but Fettucini sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Benny Bjerke. That's going to take a lot out of him. Fettucini tries to clinch and Bjerke counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Bjerke is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Bjerke is looking to stand up but Fettucini won't let him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fettucini looking for a sweep. Not yet Fettucini, not yet. Fettucini pushes a forearm under Bjerke's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Bjerke is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
