Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shaun Borelli!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Borelli is defended easily by Bowers.

Bowers gets the takedown into side control.
Borelli is looking to reverse the position.
Bowers creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Bowers wants to lay and pray for a moment but Borelli keeps working.
Borelli is trying to get back to his feet.
Bowers taking a breather here.
Borelli tries to bench press Bowers off him but Bowers keeps the position.

The strikes coming from Bowers are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Borelli takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Bowers stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Bowers has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Borelli tries to hold on but Bowers pushes him away.

Borelli is in all sorts of trouble here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bowers fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Borelli, pushing him back against the cage.
Borelli drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Bowers gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Bowers successfully pulls guard.
Bowers tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Borelli tries to stand but Bowers is controlling from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bowers looking to control.
Borelli is breathing heavily.

Bowers is really struggling to control Borelli but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Bowers wriggles free and stands up.
Borelli has his takedown stuffed
and Bowers counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Bowers shoots and misses
and Borelli counters with a head kick.
Bowers throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Bowers throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Borelli's waist but Borelli gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bowers off to one side.
Borelli shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Bowers counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Hurricane Bowers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shaun Borelli.

Bowers gets to his feet - Borelli follows without any prompting.
Borelli wants to clinch but Bowers slips to the side

and Bowers counters by clinching up.
Bowers drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Bowers is pressed up against the cage. Borelli has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Bowers down to the mat. Bowers avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Borelli fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bowers sprawls well initially but Borelli persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bowers has his hands clasped together around Borelli's back. He's all about the action.
Borelli is trying to control the action in half guard but Bowers is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Borelli is thwarting Bowers's attempts to control the position.
Borelli trying to control from Bowers's half guard. Bowers has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Bowers holds on and takes a little breather.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Borelli won't allow Bowers to sweep him here.
Bowers is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Borelli dives into side control.
Borelli connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Bowers some visible discomfort.
Bowers is trying to get back to half guard.
Bowers being controlled for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bowers keeps Borelli at a distance using the push kick.
Bowers throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Bowers tries to close the distance and clinch up but Borelli swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Borelli drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Borelli gets to his feet - Bowers follows without any prompting.

Borelli wants to control the action here but instead Bowers manages to pass to full mount!

Bowers lands a nice shot to the head.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Borelli wants to hold on but Bowers pushes him away.
Borelli takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Hurricane Bowers overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Bowers looking to control and managing it successfully.
Bowers avoids the attempt from Borelli to control.

Borelli sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Bowers prevents Borelli from standing back up.
Borelli is looking for a sweep. Bowers is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Borelli gets full guard.
Borelli looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Bowers puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Borelli is trying to maintain the position but Bowers is very close to passing his half guard.
Bowers wants to take a breather but Borelli is having none of it.
Bowers is thwarting Borelli's attempts to control the position.
Borelli tries to roll over but Bowers keeps him under control.
Bowers is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

And that's the end of the fight!
Hurricane Bowers showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Bowers has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
