Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rip James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Denzel Douglas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think James might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to What's the difference. Douglas is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Hit Em Up. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Denzel Douglas was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rip James! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Denzel Douglas! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Douglas misses with a hook. James bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. James staying out of range there. James uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Douglas. James gets a takedown into half guard. James throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. James throws a strike but Douglas avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Douglas is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst James is controlling him. Douglas controls James momentarily but James frees himself.
That's one minute gone in the round. James working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. James wants to pass the guard but Douglas is keeping the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. James preventing the sweep. James tries to free his leg and advance position but Douglas is retaining full guard.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. James moves out of range as Douglas strikes. James takes a shot to the body in his stride.
James throws a series of punches but Douglas avoids them all with ease.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. James bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Douglas throws a jab when James was well out of range. James moves out of range of the strikes. Douglas misses with a looping right. Douglas throws a looping overhand right but James ducks down to avoid it. Douglas throws a shot from downtown. James moves away and avoids it. James avoids a kick to the body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. James tries for a takedown but Douglas sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. James throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Douglas sees it coming and avoids it easily. James pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Denzel Douglas is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. James connects with a nice looking jab.
James throws a jab when Douglas was well out of range. Douglas tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but James was well out of range. Poor timing from Douglas. James throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Douglas might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

and James counters with a takedown into side control. James sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Douglas is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
James with the ground and pound but Douglas regains half guard under the barage of strikes. James missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Douglas regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from James. Douglas tries to land a sweep but no joy. Douglas is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst James is controlling him. James is looking to work some ground and pound but Douglas has wrist control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rip James dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
James uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Douglas. Douglas misses the jab. James uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Douglas has time to react. Douglas misses with a straight right. Douglas throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. James fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Douglas manages to avoid it. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. James ducks under a wild hook from Douglas.
That's one minute gone in the round. Douglas tries to bum rush James with a series of wild strikes but James uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Douglas looks to throw the jab but James is out of range. James changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Douglas tries to avoid it but James manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Douglas to the ground. Douglas escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Douglas throws an uppercut from half a mile away. James sees it coming and avoids it easily. James feints and as Douglas raises his hands in defense, James changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. James throws a strike but Douglas rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. James keeping moving, preventing Douglas from controlling successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. James looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
James escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Douglas gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Douglas avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
James isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Douglas stacks James on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Douglas! Douglas decides to stand up, so the ref orders James to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Some bone on bone action there as James checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. James throws a predictable looking body shot
and Douglas connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. A slow jab from Douglas misses its intended target. A telegraphed right hand from Douglas misses the target. Nice defenses there by Douglas.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Douglas connects with a looping right hand.
A combination from Douglas does no damage. James throws a left and a right that both miss
and Douglas connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Douglas misses with a hook. James ducked under it nicely. Douglas takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
A head kick misses from Douglas. Douglas misses the shot to the body. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Douglas fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches James on the side of the head. James throws a lazy head kick and James takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Denzel Douglas seems to be getting the better of the standup. A bone on bone clash there as James blocks the leg kick.
Douglas cracks James with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Douglas throws an uppercut from half a mile away. James sees it coming and avoids it easily. Douglas displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as James throws out the jab. James misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three minutes gone in the round. James loads up on a big right hand but Douglas slips the punch. James throws out a loose jab but Douglas uses good head movement to avoid it. James pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Douglas throws a shot to the body.
Douglas ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. James throws a hook to the side of Douglas's head but Douglas sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Douglas throws out a loose jab but James uses good head movement to avoid it. Douglas misses with a looping right. Danga de danga de dang - Douglas scores with a four punch combination! Douglas looks to throw the jab but James is out of range. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. James lands a nice hook to Douglas's body. Douglas takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. James fails with a takedown attempt.
And that's the end of the fight! Denzel Douglas comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Douglas has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
