Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lion Trees (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mel Carbon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lion Trees has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Lion Trees!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mel Carbon!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Colin Fotheringham and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carbon tries to keep at a distance but Trees has taken the fight into the clinch.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Carbon.
Trees wants to break free but Carbon has control.
Carbon is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Trees breaks from the clinch.
Carbon fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Carbon shoots in looking for a takedown. Trees tries to sprawl out of it but Carbon keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Trees manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Carbon tries to close the distance and clinch up but Trees swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Trees has taken the fight to the clinch.
Carbon has had enough of the clinch but Trees keeps him there for the moment.
Carbon is trying to drag Trees to the mat but Trees just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Lion Trees has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mel Carbon.
Trees has Carbon pressed against the cage.
Carbon tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Carbon is pressed up against the cage. Trees has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Carbon down to the mat. Carbon avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Carbon fails in his attempt to clinch.
Trees fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Carbon does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Trees slaps away a takedown attempt from Carbon, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Trees takes the fight into the clinch.

Trees drags the fight down to the ground.
Carbon being controlled here momentarily.
Trees looking to hit a scissor sweep but Carbon is one step ahead there.
Trees has control of Carbon's left arm, preventing Carbon from doing any damage.

Trees manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Carbon is looking to get to half guard.

Trees content just to control the position here.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Trees cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Trees controlling the position easily from mount.
Carbon is looking to get to half guard.
Carbon is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Trees lands a nice shot to the head.
Carbon tries to reverse the position but Trees maintains control.
Carbon looks gassed!
Carbon is in a horrible position here. Trees smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Trees controlling from the full mount.
Trees prevents Carbon from getting the reversal.
Carbon tries to hold on but Trees pushes him away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Trees working the ground and pound effectively.
Trees landing strikes from the mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lion Trees dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Crunch! Carbon slams his shin into Trees's torso.
Trees tries to clinch up.
Lion Trees is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Trees gets the takedown into side control.
Carbon tries to buck Trees off but Trees is having none of it.
Carbon looking for a sweep but Trees has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Carbon is trying desperately to improve position.
Trees controlling from the full mount.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Trees landing strikes, looking to finish!

Carbon really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Trees takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Trees looking for a guillotine from mount but Carbon is having none of it.
Trees can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Carbon is looking to escape.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Carbon tries to lock up and control but Trees gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Trees tries to control but Carbon wriggling away.
Carbon is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Trees lands a heavy elbow.
Carbon tries to lock up and control but Trees gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Carbon keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Trees throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Trees throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Trees pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Trees unloads with some shots from mount but Carbon bucks and avoids them well.
Carbon wants to control but Trees is having none of it.
Carbon really wants to buck Trees off and get back to his feet.
Trees controlling the position easily from mount.
Trees can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Carbon is looking to escape.
Carbon is trying to escape the mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Trees lands a nice shot to the head.
Trees avoids the attempt from Carbon to control.
Trees can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Carbon is looking to escape.
Carbon is wriggling around trying to escape.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Trees lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lion Trees dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Carbon tries to clinch

so Trees counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Trees might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Trees is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Carbon controls Trees momentarily but Trees frees himself.
Trees stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Carbon swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Carbon is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Trees is working Carbon over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Carbon is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Carbon manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Trees manages to get himself to full guard.
Carbon chips away with some ground and pound.

Carbon drops back looking for a leg! Trees is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Trees manages to kick Carbon off! Carbon jumps back into Trees's guard.
Carbon trying to control but Trees is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Carbon throwing strikes from guard but Trees blocks nicely.
Carbon wants to control from the top but Trees keeps moving.
Carbon looking to sit in guard and control but Trees gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Trees gets to his feet - Carbon follows without any prompting.
Trees avoids the head kick by Carbon.
Carbon tries for a takedown but Trees circles away easily

and Trees counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Carbon's guard now.

Trees drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Carbon manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Trees has Carbon in his guard.
Trees is looking to stand back up but Carbon counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Trees.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Trees controlling the position for now.
Lion Trees is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Lion Trees overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Trees wants to control but Carbon is keeping busy.
Carbon lands with a punch from half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Lion Trees showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Trees has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
