Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hard Core (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hard Core has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Hard Core!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Scott Smith!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Aleksandr Martynov and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Core shoots in looking for a takedown. Smith tries to sprawl out of it but Core keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Smith manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Core shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Smith but Smith pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Core takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Smith shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Core makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Core.
Smith wants to control from the top but Core keeps moving.

Core had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Smith defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Smith loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Core escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Smith gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Smith is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Smith looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Core wants to improve his position but Smith is controlling well.
Core moves into full guard.
Smith wants to control from the top but Core keeps moving.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Smith is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Core gets his way!

Smith seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Core does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Core is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Smith's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Smith's back!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Hard Core.
Well Smith has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
