Sonderland comes to the cage accompanied by Wkurwiony Dzieciak. Steve Sonderland has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steve Sonderland!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, bryce ahr!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Stewart Dunkirk and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
ahr shoots in looking for a takedown. Sonderland tries to sprawl out of it but ahr keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sonderland manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sonderland accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Sonderland seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down ahr for as long as he can get away with.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
ahr is not content to let Sonderland control the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

ahr is pressed up against the cage. Sonderland has hold of a leg and is looking to drag ahr down to the mat. ahr avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Sonderland uses his free foot to push down on ahr's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for ahr.
Sonderland seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but ahr is holding on tight.
ahr is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Sonderland takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
ahr looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!

The referee asks Sonderland politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Sonderland prefers to stall for the moment though.
Sonderland has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
ahr tries to bench press Sonderland off him but Sonderland keeps the position.
Sonderland works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
ahr struggling a bit here.
Sonderland is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down ahr's shoulder. That is not cool.

and Sonderland counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in ahr's guard now.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

ahr is looking to improve his position but Sonderland isn't that keen on the idea.
Sonderland fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
ahr tries to buck Sonderland off but he can't manage it.
bryce ahr has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Steve Sonderland is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
ahr is looking to improve his position but Sonderland isn't that keen on the idea.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Steve Sonderland.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Sonderland, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
