Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Danny Cardon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Martin Gomes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gomes has chosen Juelz Santana - Murda Murda as his entrance music. Martin Gomes is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Danny Cardon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Martin Gomes! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Mauricio Rocha and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gomes tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Gomes keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Gomes fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cardon sprawls well initially but Gomes persists and gets the takedown into half guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Gomes passes to full mount! Gomes working away from the top, dropping strikes. Gomes throws some wild stikes that Cardon manages to avoid easily.
Gomes goes for an armbar but Cardon turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Cardon. Cardon being controlled here momentarily. Gomes's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cardon stays in close to Gomes's body and controls the position. Gomes wants to sweep here but Cardon controlling him for the moment. Cardon trying to control the position from guard on top but Gomes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Gomes looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Gomes looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Cardon puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Cardon slows the pace down in half guard. Cardon is trying to control. Gomes wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Cardon controlling the action here. Gomes looking for a kimura from the bottom but Cardon passes into side control!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gomes seems a little lost for a moment, as Cardon dominates the positioning. You can see the frustration on Gomes's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Gomes trying to remain calm as Cardon controls from the top position. Gomes keeps Cardon under control for a moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Gomes tries to buck Cardon off but Cardon is having none of it. Gomes looks to move to half guard but instead Cardon has passed into mount! Damn! Gomes tries to hold on but Cardon pushes him away. Cardon controlling from mount. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Gomes tries to lock up and control but Cardon gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Martin Gomes will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
No joy there for Cardon, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Cardon throws a wild body kick that Gomes sees coming a mile off. Cardon misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Gomes.
Cardon swings for the body but Gomes moves out of range.
Cardon cracks Gomes with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Cardon misses with the combination.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Gomes keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Cardon pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Nice cross by Cardon. Gomes gets the takedown into side control. Sloppy strikes there by Gomes. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gomes wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cardon keeps working. Gomes in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gomes trying to control the action but Cardon is working from the bottom. Gomes tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gomes has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Gomes in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Gomes wants to control for a moment but Cardon uses the opportunity to move back to half guard. Gomes trying to pass the guard but Cardon defending well.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Cardon avoids the body shot from Gomes.
Cardon fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Gomes, pushing him back against the cage. Gomes goes for a takedown attempt but Cardon pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Cardon moves into the clinch successfully.
Cardon lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Gomes trying to stall but Cardon improves his position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cardon tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Gomes avoids it. Gomes changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Cardon fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Gomes avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Cardon throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

letting Gomes counter with a right hand. Gomes shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Cardon sprawls well. Cardon wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gomes gets slowly back to his feet. Danny Cardon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Martin Gomes. Cardon works the jab nicely. Cardon fails in his attempt to clinch. Cardon scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Gomes doesn't seem bothered though. Gomes has a takedown stuffed.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cardon throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Gomes counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Cardon! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cardon is squirming around, avoiding Gomes's attempts to control the action. BOOM! Gomes connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Gomes throwing strikes but Cardon recovers to half guard. A much better position. Gomes performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Gomes working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Cardon's thigh. Cardon counters though and makes it back to full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Danny Cardon will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Cardon works over Gomes's head and body with a nice combination. Gomes tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Cardon swivels and escapes. Cardon swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Gomes counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Cardon! Gomes can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Cardon is looking to escape. Gomes looking to control and managing it successfully. Cardon is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gomes raining down shots from the mount!
It looks like Danny Cardon has been cut. Gomes takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Gomes punching from mount but Cardon doing a good job of avoiding damage. Gomes throws a sloppy strike and Cardon uses the opportunity to reverse the position! A bit of a scramble here and Cardon has ended up in Gomes's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Cardon trying to control the position from guard on top but Gomes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Cardon has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Gomes tries to land a sweep but no joy. Cardon sitting in guard here, content to control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gomes keeping moving, preventing Cardon from controlling successfully. Gomes working a defensive guard here.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Cardon clinches. Cardon lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Gomes backwards. Cardon throws an elbow that misses.

Gomes looking for a takedown. Danny Cardon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Martin Gomes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Cardon lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Gomes tries to score a body lock takedown but Cardon shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Cardon putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Gomes in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. Cardon gets underhooks to prevent Gomes's takedown attempt.
Gomes takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Cardon pushes Gomes back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Gomes avoiding damage as Cardon throws knees to the body.
Gomes takes an elbow to the temple.
It looks like Martin Gomes has been cut. Gomes takes a knee right on the jaw!
Cardon gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Gomes.

And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Martin Gomes. I think Gomes has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
