The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Franklyn Lucas and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steele lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

Steele really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Steele swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Steele misses with a hook. Gracie ducked under it nicely.

Steele looks for the body kick but Gracie saw that one coming.

Gracie looks to land a combination. Steele sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

and Gracie counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Gracie throws a sloppy head kick and Steele moves out of range easily.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Steele crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Gracie - the referee stops the clock and Steele gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Gracie. Steele manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Leo Steele seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Michael Gracie dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Gracie changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Steele tries to avoid it but Gracie manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Steele to the ground. Steele escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Gracie counters with a three punch combo that has Steele backing up. Steele nods at Gracie to acknowledge the strikes.
Crunch! Gracie slams his shin into Steele's torso.
Gracie fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Steele.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Steele throws a lazy right hand but Gracie sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Well Gracie has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
