PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shane Carwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ah Shizzle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ah Shizzle struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 267.9lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Shane Carwin has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shane Carwin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ah Shizzle!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carwin looks to land a combination. Shizzle sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Shizzle misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Carwin scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Shizzle looks gassed!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Carwin thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Carwin tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Carwin has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Carwin scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Shizzle to see if he's OK.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shizzle is not content to let Carwin control the position.
Check out the look on Carwin's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carwin cracks Shizzle with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Carwin postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Carwin moves into full mount!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Shizzle defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Carwin.
Carwin has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Shizzle's face.
Carwin wants to control the pace but Shizzle is squirming around nicely.

Carwin is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Shizzle can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Carwin fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Carwin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Carwin is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Shizzle has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Shizzle!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Shizzle wants to control from the top but Carwin keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shane Carwin dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Carwin cracks Shizzle with a right hand to the side of the head.

Carwin feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Carwin sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Shizzle's guard.

Carwin takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Carwin lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Carwin swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
