Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fedro Emelianendez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nicolas Kapers! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Seu Braga and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice sprawl there from Emelianendez as Kapers shoots in. A punch combination from Emelianendez misses. A bone on bone clash there as Emelianendez blocks the leg kick.
Fedro Emelianendez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Emelianendez clinches. Emelianendez tries to pull guard but Kapers won't allow it.
Kapers keeps control of Emelianendez as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Emelianendez jumps guard but Kapers stands there with Emelianendez around his waist. Emelianendez gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Emelianendez tries to land knees in the clinch but Kapers avoids the damage to the body. Kapers gets underhooks to prevent Emelianendez's takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fedro Emelianendez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Emelianendez drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Kapers gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Emelianendez pulls guard. Kapers slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Kapers working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Emelianendez could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. You can see the frustration on Emelianendez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kapers scores with a couple of short elbows. Emelianendez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Kapers working away. Kapers wants to lay and pray for a moment but Emelianendez keeps working. Kapers is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Emelianendez looks calm but he's in trouble here. Kapers gets his head over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Emelianendez is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Kapers lets go of the hold an Emelianendez can pop his arm back in it's socket.
