Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sam Squanch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ground Pound (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Squanch might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Animal. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sam Squanch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ground Pound!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Chris Downing and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pound thows a body shot but no joy.
Squanch fails to land with a series of punches.
Pound takes a swing at Squanch's ribcage but misses.

Pound scores a takedown into full mount!
Pound wants to control but Squanch has made it back to half guard. Nice work.

Pound stands up from half guard.
Pound misses with a straight left.
Pound looks to score with a jab to the body but Squanch is just out of range.
Squanch avoids the body shot from Pound.

Pound showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Squanch.
Pound fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Squanch manages to avoid it.
Squanch goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.


It looks like Ground Pound has been cut.
Pound is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Squanch rather than just go for the knockout.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Squanch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Squanch throws an elbow but Pound slips to the side and avoids it well.

Squanch is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Pound will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Pound is not content to let Squanch control the position.
Squanch scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Pound to see if he's OK.

Squanch throws a strike aimed at the side of Pound's head but Pound avoids it well.
Squanch is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Pound will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Pound is looking to regain half guard here but Squanch keeps moving and retains side control.
Squanch has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Squanch passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Pound!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pound is squirming around, avoiding Squanch's attempts to control the action.

Squanch really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Squanch is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Pound can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Pound is bucking up trying to escape but Squanch cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Pound tries to hold on but Squanch pushes him away.

Pound really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Squanch. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Squanch prevents Pound from getting the reversal.
Squanch will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Squanch misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pound can do anything to dispel that myth.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Pound throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Squanch lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Pound takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Squanch closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Pound to the mat! Pound manages to get full guard.
Squanch wants to control from the top but Pound keeps moving.

Squanch throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Pound.
Pound uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Squanch.

Pound throws a body punch but Squanch moves out of range.
Pound throws a push kick but Squanch slaps the foot to one side.
Pound jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Ground Pound seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Squanch lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Pound circles away quickly and effectively.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Squanch is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Squanch wants to hold on but Pound pushes him away.
Pound takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Squanch is looking to improve his position but Pound isn't that keen on the idea.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Squanch tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Pound working for a guillotine from mount but Squanch is in no mood to give up.
Squanch wants to hold on but Pound pushes him away.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Pound goes for an armbar but Squanch turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Squanch.
Pound takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Squanch is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Ground Pound.
Well Squanch has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
