PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lee Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Dwyer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Lee Thomas has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Lee Thomas seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael Dwyer!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Robert Twigg and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Dwyer jumps into guard, dragging Thomas to the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Dwyer is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dwyer feints and as Thomas raises his hands in defense, Dwyer changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Dwyer wants to get up but he can't break Thomas's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Dwyer is on top in guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Dwyer is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

Dwyer drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Thomas manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Dwyer has Thomas in his guard.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Dwyer shoots in looking for a takedown. Thomas tries to sprawl out of it but Dwyer keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Thomas manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Michael Dwyer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Dwyer escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Thomas gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Dwyer manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Thomas manages to get himself to full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Michael Dwyer is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Thomas is working an open guard so Dwyer takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
