And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Randy Savage!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Andrew Berry and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mazinger shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Savage sprawls well. Savage wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Mazinger gets slowly back to his feet.
Savage is looking to clinch but Mazinger is avoiding it.
Mazinger tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Savage swivels and escapes.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dave Mazinger. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Savage counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Savage stands and steps away. Mazinger gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Savage.

Savage shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mazinger's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Savage creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Mazinger's defenses.

Savage darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Savage decides to stand up.

and Savage counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Savage decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Mazinger, up you get!

Savage bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Savage decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Savage closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Mazinger did well to prevent Savage getting side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Savage connects with a nice short shot to Mazinger's temple.

Mazinger is not content to let Savage control the position.
Savage tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Mazinger is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Savage pulls his head out easily.

Savage escapes and gets back to his feet.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Savage unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Savage is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Savage lands a hook to the side of the head.

Savage breaks from the clinch.
Savage has his takedown stuffed
and Mazinger counters with a series of strikes. Savage will be more careful next time no doubt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Randy Savage dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Mazinger's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Mazinger duly obliges.
Savage is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Savage instigates a clinch.

Savage connects with a nasty looking knee right to Mazinger's face.
Savage pushes Mazinger back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Mazinger seems a little lost for a moment, as Savage dominates the positioning.

Randy Savage showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mazinger will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Mazinger shoots in looking for a takedown. Savage tries to sprawl out of it but Mazinger keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Savage manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Mazinger gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Savage to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Savage drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Mazinger dives on top into guard.

Mazinger thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Mazinger got a little sloppy there for a moment and Savage has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mazinger has managed to get both his arms back between Savage's legs - danger averted.

Randy Savage comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Savage has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
