Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony Kempe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Freeman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tony Kempe could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to George Freeman's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tony Kempe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, George Freeman!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Daniel Franklin and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Freeman darts in and clinches Kempe up against the cage.
Freeman has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kempe is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Freeman jumps guard and drags Kempe to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Freeman kicks Kempe off and gets to his feet.
Freeman throws a head kick but Kempe moves out of range.
Freeman tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kempe swivels and escapes.
Freeman shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Tony Kempe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of George Freeman.
Freeman tries to clinch but Kempe moves out of range.
Freeman shoots in for a takedown but Kempe shows good takedown defense.

Freeman pushes Kempe up against the cage in a clinch.

Kempe tries to work over Freeman's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Freeman has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Kempe avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Kempe jumps guard but Freeman stands there with Kempe around his waist. Kempe gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Freeman is trying to break free.

Freeman pulls guard.
Freeman is controlling Kempe's posture.
Kempe trying to control the position from guard on top but Freeman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kempe working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Freeman wants to stand but Kempe is controlling the position.
Kempe trying to stand up but can't free himself from Freeman's guard.
Freeman tries to land a sweep but no joy.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Kempe distracts Freeman with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Freeman is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kempe lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Tony Kempe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Freeman looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Freeman stops Kempe from standing up.
Freeman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kempe swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kempe wants to stand and escape but Freeman is having none of it.

Freeman pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kempe is keeping the position for now.

Freeman postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Kempe is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Freeman, into his guard.
Kempe tries to stand but Freeman is controlling from the bottom.
Kempe with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Kempe is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kempe passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Kempe is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Freeman is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Freeman is trying to get back to half guard.
You can see the frustration on Freeman's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

George Freeman dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Kempe tries to clinch up.

Freeman clinches up against the cage.
Kempe tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Freeman breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Freeman shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Freeman not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Kempe tries to kick Freeman off but Freeman keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Kempe is not content to let Freeman control the position.
Freeman is taking a breather. Kempe says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Kempe makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Freeman stalks Kempe and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Kempe's face. Kempe staggers backwards, shaken.
Kempe scores with a spinning back kick!
Freeman misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Kempe clinches but Freeman breaks the clinch

and Freeman counters with a takedown into side control.

Freeman decides to stand up, so the ref orders Kempe to his feet.

Freeman rushes Kempe and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Freeman controlling the action here for a moment.
Freeman is working for takedown but Kempe is calmly controlling the position for now.
Kempe fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Freeman had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kempe defends it easily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kempe wants to pass the guard but Freeman is keeping the position.

Kempe decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Kempe lands with a slapping head kick.

Kempe closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Freeman to the mat! Freeman manages to get full guard.

Freeman is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Kempe is looking to escape.
Freeman wants to pass to mount but Kempe is defending the position.
Freeman is nestled in close to Kempe, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Kempe is trying to stand up here but Freeman is controlling him well.
Freeman lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Freeman is keen to just control but Kempe is a slippery customer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

George Freeman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Nice takedown defense from Kempe. No joy for Freeman on that attempt.

Freeman closes the distance and clinches.

Kempe manages to break the clinch.
Freeman slaps away a takedown attempt from Kempe, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Kempe tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Freeman paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Freeman throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Kempe was covering up waiting for the punch and Freeman finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Kempe trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Kempe closes the distance and pushes Freeman back into the cage.
Freeman tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Kempe smiles and moves away.
Kempe shoots in for a double leg but Freeman sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Kempe showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Freeman.

Kempe clinches up with Freeman and pushes him back against the cage.
Kempe keeps control of Freeman as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Freeman takes a shot to the head.
Kempe can't break the clinch.

Kempe jumps guard.
Freeman controlling from the top position.
Freeman wants to control from the top but Kempe keeps moving.

Kempe pushes Freeman off and gets back to his feet.

Freeman tries for a takedown but Kempe circles away easily

and Kempe counters with a shoot takedown. Freeman fights it but they end up in guard.

Kempe stands up out of Freeman's guard for a moment - Freeman manages to land a nice upkick.

Kempe drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Freeman dives on top into guard.
Kempe wants to stand and escape but Freeman is having none of it.

Freeman decides to return to a standing position.
Kempe wants to clinch.
A low kick from Kempe is predictable there
and Freeman counters with a good low kick that Kempe was not able to check.
Freeman pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Nice takedown defense from Freeman. No joy for Kempe on that attempt.
Kempe wants to clinch.
Kempe pushes Freeman away with a front kick.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Tony Kempe.
I think Freeman has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
