The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Merriman swings for the body but Spaticus moves out of range.
Merriman pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Merriman.
Nice sprawl there from Spaticus as Merriman shoots in.
Spaticus looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Merriman fails with the takedown.
Leonidas Spaticus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shawne Merriman.
Spaticus lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Merriman circles away quickly and effectively.
Spaticus swinging wildly here.
Merriman closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Spaticus tries to get back to half guard but can't.
You can see the frustration on Spaticus's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Sloppy strikes there by Merriman.

Merriman in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Merriman wants to take a breather but Spaticus manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Merriman.
Merriman throws a strike but Spaticus rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Spaticus forces his way into half guard.
Merriman wants to get back to full guard but Spaticus has mounted him!
Merriman is trying desperately to improve position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Spaticus looking to isolate an arm here. Merriman doesn't see it coming and as Spaticus extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Spaticus!
