PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between punch master (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and crash punch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). punch has chosen in the end as his entrance music. Both these guys are coming into the fight with injuries so let's see if that has a bearing on the fight. crash punch acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, punch master!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, crash punch!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Anthony Taglia and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
master shoots in for a takedown but punch shows good takedown defense.
master is breathing heavily.
master lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but punch circles away quickly and effectively.
punch lands a lovely overhand right.
punch lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.


It looks like punch master has been cut.
master swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
master avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from punch lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and master has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from master and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

punch scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

The crowd cheers as punch lands an impressive looking overhand right. master doesn't seem phased though.

punch rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but master moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
punch sizes up master with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
master lands a head kick. punch smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
punch avoids the head kick by master.
punch throws a leg kick but master sees it coming and checks it nicely.
master takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
punch master seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A nice combination there by punch.
punch connects with a looping right hand.
master needs to keep his hands up - punch had a free shot at his head there.
punch throws a series of strikes that have master backpedaling.

master moves into range and clinches up with punch.

master is fighting off a takedown attempt but punch is just too persistent for him and manages to trip master to the mat. master regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

master is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

punch is working master over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
punch throws a series of punches but master avoids them all with ease.

A nice leg kick lands there from master.
master misses with a series of wild punches.
punch misses with a few strikes there.
master pulls out of a head kick attempt.

punch gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
punch wants to control from the top but master keeps moving.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
master wants to get back to his feet but punch is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
master is trying to control the position but punch postures up.
punch is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

master is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if punch can do anything to dispel that myth.
master seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
master wants to take a breather but punch is having none of it.
punch preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

punch throws a right hand that master ducks under and follows up with a left that master also avoids with ease.
punch is looking to clinch but master is avoiding it.

punch lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
punch digs a right hand into master's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on master's gas tank.

master lands with a short punch from the clinch.
punch digs a right hand underneath master's ribcage. master let out a lung full of air as it connected.
punch lands a right hand that snaps the head of master backwards.

master throws a sloppy head kick and punch moves out of range easily.

punch closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
master is not content to let punch control the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
master tries to close the distance and clinch up but punch swats him away and circles back towards the center.
punch shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. master defends it nicely.
punch master has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of crash punch.

punch cracks master with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
punch jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
master shoots in but punch avoids the takedown attempt easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

punch is working for takedown but master is calmly controlling the position for now.

punch has master pressed up against the ropes and is working for takedown. master manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

master wants the takedown. punch is fighting it off but master persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in punch's guard against the ropes.

so master counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
punch tries to land a sweep but no joy.
master wants to control from the top but punch keeps moving.

master got a little sloppy there for a moment and punch has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, master has managed to get both his arms back between punch's legs - danger averted.
punch has master pulled in close to control his posture.
crash punch is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
punch not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

And that's the end of the fight!
punch master showed his dominance in that final round.
I think punch has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
