2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Toni Danskain! The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Danskain avoids a punch combination nicely.
Aschenbreaker fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Aschenbreaker will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Aschenbreaker takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Danskain should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Danskain throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Danskain gets a clinch. Danskain escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Aschenbreaker shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Danskain but Danskain pushes him off and we're back to square one. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Oleg Aschenbreaker. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nice sprawl there from Danskain as Aschenbreaker shoots in. Danskain throws a nice looking combination but Aschenbreaker bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Danskain throws a leg kick but Aschenbreaker sees it coming and moves out of range. Aschenbreaker looks for a takedown but Danskain sprawls well. Danskain keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Oleg Aschenbreaker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Danskain moves into the clinch. Aschenbreaker has Danskain pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Danskain manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Aschenbreaker can't get the takedown.

Danskain tries to free his leg and advance position but Aschenbreaker is retaining full guard. Danskain really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Aschenbreaker. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Aschenbreaker drops back for a leg! Aschenbreaker is pressing down on Danskain's thigh, looking to free his foot. Danskain is holding on for now. Aschenbreaker looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Aschenbreaker is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Danskain is just riding it out for now. Aschenbreaker eventually gives up the hold.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Aschenbreaker is looking for a kimura but Danskain is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Aschenbreaker to get the leverage. Aschenbreaker is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Danskain defends it well. Danskain is staying active underneath Aschenbreaker, who seems content to just control the action from this position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Aschenbreaker moves into full mount! Danskain won't be happy about that! Danskain prevents Aschenbreaker from taking his back. Aschenbreaker is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Aschenbreaker!
