The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Assis throws an overhand right that lands on Mboto's shoulder, as Mboto tries to avoid the shot.
Mboto shoots in for a double leg but Assis sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Mboto moves in looking to clinch but Assis pushes him off.
Assis throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Assis throws a lazy right hand but Mboto sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Assis scores with a jab.
Mboto slips a straight right by Assis.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Mboto checks a leg kick.
Good work by Mboto as he checks the leg kick.
Mboto tries to clinch there but Assis circles away.
Mboto tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Mboto tries to score a power double leg takedown but Assis sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mboto somewhat.
Assis throws a head kick but Mboto moves out of range.
Assis digs a good hook to Mboto's body.
A slapping leg kick lands for Assis.
Mboto is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Assis cracks Mboto with a good jab.
Mboto takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Assis cracks Mboto on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Mboto falls backwards against the cage. Assis follows up with more strikes that drop Mboto to his knees. Assis keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Mboto! This one is all over!
